Wouldnt be surprised if they were south american
Ill wait and see before i believe the sky is falling. Gonna give Curtis a chance to prove himself like Bez did.
Wonder if the condition of the grass at BMO is factor in VV leaving, can't be easy on someone with bad knees
I don't think some people in MLSE management get yet that the city doesn't want another RSL - it wants a TFC with great players, top quality, get it done & win. Year after year quality can't be done on the cheap.
Just like it didn't want cheap Blue Jays, it wanted spend a lot Blue Jays - Toronto is into winning, not building.
this club will not go cheap...they said it a 100 times...
I’ll take a wait-and-see approach here. Selling VV, the hiring of managers who worked for more budget outfits, really doesn’t mean anything... yet.
Like others have stated, I will give this a chance and see where the plan is. Just hope that something will fill that gap!

I don't believe they will go cheap either but I believe we will go young. The heavy schedule of the past couple years with CCL and long playoffs probably would have been dealt with better if we had a younger, more balanced squad.
I totally expect a tear down after this season or maybe even this summer after the CCL is done but I am holding out all judgment on any Curtis moves until it all plays out. His work rebuilding NYRB from the youth up to what they are now earns him a little time to refresh our squad.
Wheeler with some info on the VV deal
Vasquez asked for it.

They wont be cheap.
They just wont have $18M DP salary spend a year.
Losing Vazquez hard to take. It makes CCL seem that much tougher. Wish him well, glad that it was a move that he wanted. Would not want to close the door on his return in the future. VV off the bench on a farewell contract would be akin to Cheyrou off the bench. imho
Maybe Seba plays AM? Double AA strikers? Altidore and Akinola?
This is an interesting re-read

I sure hope VV isn’t leaving because he isn’t buying what Manning is selling. Qatar is a big step down from MLS. I don't get why anybody would pay up for him.
My hope is that, bizarrely, this could be a WC 2022 play for him. VV has never been capped for Spain. I have wondered on here before about him getting into the CMNT picture. oh well.

I've gotta wonder if the frequent cold/crappy weather, crappy pitch at BMO & other MLS fields, and extreme travel, might have been making things worse for Vazquez's back / leg / nerve issues.
Gutted to see VV go, but I get it; the re-tooling must begin this season for the sake of next season and beyond. Huge hole for Curtis to fill now, though. Oso won't fill VV's boots. The sale does open up a few doors.
stop the paranonia people,,,he is 32,he asked for the move, warm climate less travel and his barca friend is apparently coaching the club...players move in futbol thats life.he will be missed
From a quick look at the roster, we need at least 1 FW and a defensive minded MID (to help Fraser again this year).
Another CB and 3rd GK would be great as well
I feel as though we are switching to a 4-5-1 formation (or 4-3-3)

Vasquez will be missed, but the chances of him staying healthy and reverting to his 2017 form at his age were slim.
The timing is unfortunate though, as it doesn't leave much time to find an adequate replacement.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Wow you go into a full morning meeting and the whole world changes when you get out. This is a big blow to TFC. Maybe needed to happen due to age and injury, but there's simply no replacing VV. I'm getting very worried about the season all of a sudden.
