I listened to the in house TFC podcast this evening and Wheeler and Dunfield are of the opinion that a CB will be moved.

Makes sense. Especially when you consider they have a CB youth product of Boca Juniors in town and coming to camp. Though that may be a TFC II signing.

Probably easier said than done. Using an International spot on him is a waste, but what team is going to acquire him and waste their own Intl spot. We traded another international (Hasler) for him (I have no idea why, I didn't mind using the Intl spot on him - he was useful)

We'd have to trade GAM/TAM to get a team to bite and take on his Intl spot

Trading Zavaleta would be a strong move for Curtis to make IMO. Not to say that I would disagree with it but that outcome could be interesting...

Hagglund to Cinci would seem plausible if the goal is to scavenge their expansion GAM/TAM.

Zavaleta is untradeable at his 2018 number, unless we take back salary or put GAM/TAM into the deal.

Hagglund I could see being moved. He has some value. Reasonable cap hit. He didn’t regress so much as he is a raw talent whose development seems to have stalled. Teams will trade for guys like that.

I still don’t understand that trade. We have had to replace Hasler and Bakero brought little. For that matter, we haven’t replaced Raheem.

You are likely right. It would be really too bad. He is incredible in the air. Would certainly score against us.

Kind of hope we're in for Gutman, the kid would do well as a winger or wingback for us and Morrow's not getting any younger

Can see both Zavaleta and Hagglund go. Zavaleta although hated here is still a serviceable back up by this leagues standards

Brain trust seemed to think Zavs was going to be the #3 CD last year - much like he was in 17. That price for a #3 CB in a 3 man back line is near standard. The assumption was VDW was going to be a RB.

Things changed. Zavs is untradeable now. Hagglund has a lot more value, especially in Ohio.

We have a buyout. If we need cap space, Zavs should go. If it's assets we're after then I agree with you.

With a back 3 set up I would hold on to him and at least during the CCL run rotate as much as we can.
Moor for MLS, Ciman for CCL or vice versa
    with Mavinga/VDW and Hagg/Zavs

I could see MLS ruling us terminating Aketxe s contract mutually as counting as out buyout. Hopefully not

Why would that be considered a buyout? "Mutually" likely means TFC didn't pay anything for it.

What happens with Zavaleta will be interesting. Without any change you know he would be staying no matter if he was even worse this year than last year but now with Curtis I think that may change. Be interesting to see exactly how the roster is being controlled.

Think for this window at least Curtis is just going to act as executioner based on what Manning said. He'll have more control afterward.

I also thought Zavaleta was pretty horrendous last season. He was really out of place vs top teams especially Tigres and Club America. He was exposed where our other supporting players like Osorio, Mavinga, Auro Jr and even Delgado looked like they could hang.

Hagglund is a guy I would value around 150-180k. He's one of these guys who's hanging on to MLS level of play by a thread.

Moving Van Der Weil and Zav and having enough to bring in 1 forward, 1 midfielder and 1 Center back is a dream off season for me. I dream of the day where MLS has 18 quality players and the days of Hernandez, Morgan and Hamilton playing MLS match's are over. When the minimum is 250 K - 300 k that will be a great time for MLS.

    18 quality player dream:

    Giovinco
    Altidore
    New striker - 500 k
    Akinola

    Vazquez
    Bradley
    Osorio
    New MF - 400 K.
    Delgado
    Endoh

    Mavinga
    Ciman
    Moor
    New CB - 350 K
    Morrow
    Auro Jr.
    Deleon
    Hagglund

Buyouts don't have to be paid in full if you agree on a lower amount with the player.
I could see it viewed as a buyout of $0 as we got his guaranteed contract off our books.
I hope it wouldn't count as our buyout, but MLS rules are unknown, so it could be a possibility.

Moor and Ciman would be splitting time. The better of the two would end up being the main guy.
On paper Ciman is better. We'll see what happens on the pitch though.

Haven't seen that, but wouldn't be surprising. I don't think he wants to remain in USL with TFCII and can't waste our final open Intl spot on him (if Bakero wasn't on the roster, maybe we could use one on Endoh, but Bakero is taking up one of those valuable slots).

Apparently TFC is still trying to bring back Janson. Another loan might be on the table. Interesting.

Yamil Asad is available also. Would be a good pick up also, even on loan.
