    ahaha... thanks flush.

I've got the volume, but I'm really bad at remembering the words.
Plus I tend to improvise a bit, which isn't a good trait for getting people together.

Travel to Barrie on Saturday and go see the Lynx play Cincinnati instead. Let them know your willing to throw your support ( and $$$) somewhere else.

I seem to recall that according to U-Sec, the Lynx are also fairly un-concerned about their fans, which could be why they have none...

HA! I remember going to watch Lynx games every week before TFC ever existed. It wasn't a pleasant time.

Anyone jealous of seattle's "fan vote for manager performance" option?

I remember brennan ripping them on that, calling it stupid....i think he would gladly take back that remark.

I just read just about all 11 pages of this thread. I don't know whether to smile or cry. I want to smile because it seems that the majority of people have finally clued in to how fucked over we've been getting by MLSE for the past 3 years.
I want to cry because there were a bunch of us who have said this pretty much from day 1, and we've been bitched at and called negative while everyone else focused on being a good fanboy, and colour-coding streamers, arguing about people calling the team "FC", getting all bent out of shape whenever someone says "soccer" on the radio, and trying to sound like their buddy-buddy with players that suck shit anyway.
SOme of you may have known what kind of car Brennan drove before I did, but Shaughno, myself, and many others knew we were getting fucked here before the first ticket increase hit the ground.
But we were just over-reacting and being negative.

+1. I used to fight with MLSEinToronto all the time and people would defend him. It's finally come around, I guess the realization is a postive step in the right direction.

Again, both teams play in massive NFL stadia.

NY has, what? 3,000 season ticket holders in an 80,000 seat stadium? Any costs associated with bringing in Barca (and there are huge costs) would be passed on to the 77,000 non-season ticket holders who buy tickets for that game.

Seattle is the same, albeit with a much larger season ticket base. Still, they have over 40,000 empty seats to charge a premium to.

In essence, both teams can recoup the huge costs of bringing in those teams without charging their season ticket holders any more money.

TFC has a huge season ticket base and a small stadium. Something like 16600 season tickets in a 20,000 seater. So they'd have to charge each of those 3,000 non season ticket buyers, what, $1000 per ticket? Or they can spread that cost over the 20,000 seats.

Anyone who thinks they were ever going to intentionally lose a ton of money on a friendly is delusional.

I get being pissed off at the movement of a regular season game to accommodate this friendly, in fact I share that sentiment. But being pissed off that Real Madrid costs much more than a regular TFC game is naive, and really just getting angry for the sake of being angry.

I'm not going to the RM game, unless it somehow shows up in my SSH account as a free ticket. No one else is forced to either.

(Gabe, this post is not directed at you, just a general statement)

He invited it somewhat by injecting such a crass statement into his other thread about a "36 hour cooling off", alhtough I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

But you're right, this isn't the average staffer's issue, it's the GM's. We don't have the right mix of players and never have, plain and simple.

You going to pay $200 to see RM and TFC?

    B
Huh? I don't remember ever talking about the friendly. As for calling Paul a scumbag I believe that to be a bit offside. Paul is a decent guy who just happens to work for a scumbag company MLSE. I highly doubt Paul had anything to do with what you preceive to be ripping you off.

And no I am not going to pay to see TFC play Real Madrid, in all honesty I may never go to another TFC game ever.......

Obviously soccer-baseball. That game was the best. I'd pay to see RM play a game of soccer-baseball against the jays.

Yeah, really easy when there are two summer tenants in that building. The main tenant has 81 home games.

From a source of mine, the friendly was intended to be played at SkyDome, but the other club involved pulled out. The Argos and Jays then made their schedule, and BMO was all that was left.

The actual solution is to not schedule mid-season friendlies at all. But I get the feeling that MLS mandates its teams to do so.

I've been vilified for almost two years now - mainly for bringing this up and asking for a keen focus. I'm not throwing out an "I told you so", I'm just glad everyone else is seeing the reality. It will get worse - guaranteed!

As an added note - I was suggesting this after game one. It was regarding security and policing. It has always been here...

    Good point.

So I wonder if (as you mentioned later the I.F. should have been at SkyDome) were we going to get a freebie for that one?

Lively discussion. Passion. Fury. No matter what happens we're all going to eat what MLSE feeds us. I hate this concept.

Can we do anything to let MLSE know the score? I mean really? Aside from some petulant head pats, we're really not getting all that much from MLSE. Sure 50 people get to sample a few chip buttys and scotch eggs every year, so what.

No way we can organize some kind of organized walk out or ban on the game. I just don't see that happening. They've got us by the short and curlies folks.
