He better fuckin leave. It'll be a dreadful showing with him still here playing half assed footie, will wreck our season (not that we need help with that). First bump and he'll be on the IR with a sore gooch.

IF he stays then I hope he understands the importance of putting on a good show - otherwise he might not see any transfer in July to the Prem. He might be looking at lower league football.
Personally I hope he comes back. I don't expect it to be for long, but he's a sure thing goal scorer, and I'd love to kick off 7 games on the road with Defoe on top. Then he can fuck off after ;p
Being reported in the UK now that Defoe has signed a massive deal with Sunderland worth £14m pounds.

The "More to come" from Larson indicates that every reporter is now working their sources.
The *** (UK types) are scumbags. Lets see if somebody with a bit more integrity comes in with something.
A friendly tip: when an article says "Report:" somewhere in the title or "according to reports" in the body that means they're just reposting someone else's story. Larson isn't actually reporting this is a done deal. He's just drawing more attention to the UK Sun story, he has no information to add.
Wheeler saying done deal. Swap is in. With cash heading to Toronto apparently!

Thrilled about his departure, not so sure about Altidore coming to us but perhaps playing with Bradley will make it worthwhile.
Hat tip to Ensco. Looks like we have to do a deal with the Impact

Another bloody big deal. Source confirms #TorontoFC has sold Jermain Defoe to Sunderland. Altidore to TFC has to go thru allocation route.
Title update.
Who can't wait to hear Defoe say what his time here was like?
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
"Yeah, it was great in Toronto. Great City. Great people. Enjoyed my time there. But, when offered the chance to do something, to do something special here, in England, at a team with a great tradition, I thought it was a good thing."

Yup a bloody big done deal
Sunderland and Toronto FC have agreed to a deal to swap strikers, with Jozy Altidore heading to the MLS club and Jermain Defoe returning to the Premier League, sources confirmed to ESPN FC.

I forsee Altidore going to Montreal, if they want him, without TFC batting an eyelid. From a business perspective it makes the most sense. And TFC is a business first, football club third or fourth.
Altidore doesn't sell lots of tickets, and hardly inspires a marketing campaign. I bet he's thrown into the deal 'cause TFC couldn't get their "valuation" for Defoe, so it's a way to save face when they told the whole world they'd not sell for less.

The price for Altidore was Defoe. Montreal couldn't pay that price so they had to pass on their spot in the allocation order. So did the next team, and the next team... until it reached a team that could.
Its funny, the league wants to avoid the Jermaine Jones fiasco that happened last year, yet its equally mickey mouse to put a process there and still have the player delivered to the chosen club.
In the end this allocation process adhered to or not is a joke, its meaningless.

Its a good point, but teams in the MLS don't sign any players, we just get the ability to have a club in the league. All players are owned by the MLS hence the allocation order having importance. Your point is a good one but utimately its lost due to the structure.
MLS needs to allow clubs to do their own deals, its the only way to shed this shroud of darkness around these deals. Transparency is going to be key for this league to get taken seriously.

In all seriousness, I think he'll do fine in MLS. Not crazy happy excited about him coming here.
Jeff Carlisle is having some interesting interactions with people on Twitter atm. Seeming to suggest the teams ahead of us in the allo order may pass.
Jeff Carlisle @JeffreyCarlisle 3m3 minutes ago
.@RescindedRed Not necessarily. Montreal could've (& likely) passed if they had no interest/couldn't afford Jozy & wanted to keep top spot.
Weston John @WestonFL_John 3m3 minutes ago
@JeffreyCarlisle Does that mean TFC traded with Montreal to be at top of allocation ranking or that the 5 teams ahead of Toronto passed?
Jeff Carlisle @JeffreyCarlisle 3m3 minutes ago
.@WestonFL_John My understanding is the latter.
