This is the whole dilemma in a nutshell, right here. Very tough. How do you ever play the Impact and not give it your all?

    Sigh.

Well if they want anything out of this tournament, they will have to give it their all. And everything indicates this team wants to win this thing.

This is only good. They better be embarrassed, and they better flatten Montreal.

    "looking forward to playing tomorrow"

    How come?
You posted this yesterday (Tuesday), and the game should be Thurday as initially scheduled.
Or they have rescheduled is for today, Wednesday???

As noted in the previous posts, things may be confusing:
    - TFC scheduled to play their 2nd match tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. (1st match was on Monday not Sunday)
    - and Vancouver gets to play 1st match tonight vs SJ at 9:00 p.m.

While I assume Osorio & Altidore are probably both still out, part of me would love to see this starting line-up tomorrow night!

    ---------------------Westberg--------------------
    --Auro---Gonzalez--Mavinga--Morrow-----
    -----Delgado--------Bradley---------------
    --Piatti-----Pozuelo--------Osorio----
    ----------------Altidore------------------

    Too attacking?

Much as it pains me, I think we have to play Ciman at the back.

If he's not motivated after his last game and with the way he was shuffled out of Montreal he needs to be cut. ASAP.

No thanks if we can help it. Gonzalez and Mavinga issues were just hydration/heat related issues causing cramping and Vanney doesn't see them having an issue starting on Thursday so I would prefer we stick with them instead of spinning the lucky wheel to see what Ciman brings us that day. I think the bigger issue we have in the lineup for the backline sounds like Justin Morrow. His issue needs rest to resolve and not games/training. I have had achilles tendinitis before and it would feel better until you started running and all that then it would flare up with pain so if that is the case for him he will be able to play as much as he can tolerate the pain so not great situation to know you have to sub out a defender every game. They should probably just start Laryea to give his tendinitis time to heal.

That’s exactly what I want to see. These are our 11 best players except for maybe Laryea who can’t start because of Auro. I’d just have Piatti and Oso a little higher

    ---------------------Westberg--------------------
    --Auro---Gonzalez--Mavinga--Morrow-----
    —————---Delgado--------Bradley---------------
    -————————--Pozuelo--------
    —————Piatti———————Osorio
    ------————--------Altidore------------------

Pozuelo’s greatest skill is his ability to create and find people ahead of him and put them in dangerous scoring opportunities. It makes no sense to have him as a number 9. He needs to be in the Vazquez number 10 Role with wingers or strikers ahead of him that he can find

Osorio is not a winger but he’s one of our best players. I’ve thought about an Osorio+Akinola for Gressel trade if Gressel doesn’t settle at D.C but right now we have to figure out a formation that is more clinical in the final third

Endoh is a good possession player and he works hard but he can’t finish. Osorio is to slow to be a winger but he can finish. Deleon can finish and he can be used as a winger but doesn’t have as good durability and tends to get over looked as a starting option. Laryea excels at RB not winger. I’d like to see Deleon given a shot and then Osorio back in the 11 when he’s good to go

If we can’t execute the winger based format because we only have 1 elite winger (Piatti who is often injured) then that strategy needs to be dropped and we go back to 4-4-2 which people forget we have won a championship with the 4-4-2 before management became obsessed with a winger based approach

I believe they said on the broadcast Monday morning that Osorio is on schedule to be ready for the third game.

Honestly when healthy wouldn’t mind seeing a 4-4-2. Either way someone has to play a position that isn’t there strength so in a 4-4-2 Piatti plays his second best position as a striker instead of winger

    —-——-Piatti-Altidore
    —————Pozuelo
    ———Osorio——Bradley
    ———-——Delgado
    J-mo-Mavinga-Gonzo-Auro

My only quibble is Bradley and Delgado. Bradley will just go there so you will have 2 guys occupying the same space. Delgado is mor mobile so I would move him up the diamond.

So many of our midfielders just roam I kinda think it is just Jozy in front of the midfield blob with a JMo Mavinga Gonzo Auro backline.

On any other 401 derby day, I would probably have lost count of the beers I'd had by noon.

Instead I just finished my second meeting of the day in my home office, and still contemplating whether or not to put on pants.

    Fuck 2020.

Pants are overrated. When people do wear them in the COVID era I can't help but notice most of them have an elastic waistband though. Trackpants business is booming I bet...

Also, why no beers in home office? Could make meetings more interesting.

    Predictions:

When/if tonight goes bad for one of these two teams, there will be at least 1 red card & some serious nastiness. Heat, away from home, pressure, Covid worries and then losing to the hated rival? Will be ugly.

If we lose, the meltdown in here will be somewhat muted but still painful.

Piatti arrives tonight. Scores two and Pozuelo scores a penalty. 3-1 for TFC.

Not liking a 2 goal lead.
In our first match we were up 2 goals and settled for a draw.
Last night the Whitecaps were up 2 goals twice and they lost the match!
However, I like your final score and hope it is correct.
We need the three points . . .

If anyone happens to be in Montreal today, our good friends at McLeans will be showing the match with happy hour specials all night. Can not wait for all of us to be back at our home away from home once again.

Please never use the term "Whitecaps" when describing TFC. ;-)

Toronto playing an important match against Montreal in Central Florida tonight is like recreating the Plains of Abraham in the Okefenokee Swamp!

That said, I'll be looking forward to watching tonight with some booze in me!
