Yeah I’m pretty sure his family would just live in Montreal. They’ve made no secret about how much they like the city, and it’s not that far away TO.

I think Vazquez and vdW also speak French? Ciman's English is fine, but the WAGs and family situation could also help to make them feel comfortable (plus the proximity of Montreal, of course).

Heard some rumblings about this, but interestingly Ciman is not listed on the public site for allocation, though I suppose he should be. Fee was reported "around $500k" which is the min for allocation list. Would explain why TFC moved up to No. 2.
In MLS fashion the allocation list was updated at some point today and Ciman is now on it.

He would only need to spend a couple of nights a week in Toronto. You can live in Montreal and work in TO. Especially if you live on the West Island - you can commute to Downsview in about 2 hours 15 minutes. He could do that on a regular practice day.

If you use one of these, it only costs $2300/month.

I know people who live that lifestyle - it's not that crazy, or hard.

They only put people on the list after the player or agent has indicated they might/may/will return to MLS.

Looks like the allocation trade was in fact for Ciman then.

Does it get announced before Xmas Day or between Boxing Day and New Years Day???

Ciman has been left out of Dijon's squad to face St.Etienne this weekend...

Isn’t that how they started out back in 2015? Seba was to be the pure playmaker. Gotta roll that old tape again from the Vancouver opener.

The Seba as a playmaker issue stretches back to his signing where he called himself a striker and Vanney referred to him as a playmaker.

We started pre-season in 4-2-3-1 and then moved to the diamond with Seba underneath, but he didn't work hard enough to play in midfield, so now he's a striker.

Yes, it didn’t work then so I don’t see how it could work now.

Jozy occasionally played wide in the front 3 of a 4-3-3 at AZ.

I feel like in order for TFC to give him another contract they have to see if he can adapt himself into a playmaker role.

Ciman really? Pretty underwhelming signing if this happens, seen this guy make too many bone head plays resulting in goals I don’t know about signing this guy not a signing that will help this team get back to 2017 greatness in my opinion .

MLS defender of the year in 2015, 20 caps for Belgium. Just played in Ligue 1 and he's 33 not 36. Only time will tell what we're getting but i'm optimistic he still has 2-3 years left. He's good enough for MLS and should be a top 10 defender. I don't know how long his contract is but Moor/Ciman is pretty good while we look for a long term replacement.

I won't lie I would be nervous against Atlanta United in CCL (Josef Martinez, Pity Martinez) and Tigres (Gignac, Valencia, Vargas) but what world class CB do they have?

I wish we got a top notch CB too to put us over the top but this is the reality and Ciman is pretty good

Ciman is a pretty big upgrade on Hernandez...who is the only defender to depart. Thats a good upgrade for sure.

Agreed. Sorry but Vanney's nephew has to go.

The fact that I'm typing this is ridiculous, it was a conflict of interest to start and should have never happened in the first place.

I suppose you would not have had Bradley play for the USMNT a ways back too then?

If the player is good enough, the relationship with the manager doesn't matter. Zavaleta was good enough in 2017. Lets see if he can get back to that.

But he was never good enough. Even in his best season, he still had no clue. The team around him was entirely responsible for the results of that year, not him. He was by far the weakest link, and the only one(besides Hagglund) that had no business being out there on the pitch, except there was no one else to put in. In a cap world, you have to field a player or two who is just not good enough, and that is Zavaletta. It's so painfully obvious that he brings nothing. It's actually hard to believe that for most of his life he has kicked and passed soccer balls over and over again, and he's still so bad at it. I don't get it, he should not be defended. There is just nothing there...unless you're a nephew

The definition of bringing nothing was our playoff back line in 2015 - Josh Williams & Kantari.

2016 & 2017 Zaveleta was an upgrade on that hot mess.

    *****

I also suspect the Venn diagram of 2016 "Vanney out" & 2019 "Why Zaveleta" is pretty much a circle.

    *********

Based on what we are seeing, Zaveleta is going to be the #5 CB, which given our schedule is going to start roughly 10 games a year and thus need to be better then what Zavs was in 2018. If he stays as bad as he was last year, he should be let go. But you don't cut a not yet in in his prime and for a season MLS quality defender after 1 bad year - a replacement is not coming up from the academy and getting another one in would be just as expensive with both no guarantee and the issue of bedding into working with our current backline.
