I thought he was hard working and a good teammate but probably not the player we needed. It is interesting though, when you look at the stats, that he put up a decent amount of goals in a short number of games.

All said and done I think Piatti is the better fit BUT still not the game changer we need up top.

I hope this comes out sounding okay, its an idea in my head that I've held for a while

I feel like guys like Janson, Piatti, etc best fit into a role that isn't really possible in MLS. They're excellent players who are best used in specific roles against certain teams, but against other teams with a different lineup, they're not as effective. I think the best way to describe it would be a "platoon", like how in baseball they'll platoon lefty and righty hitters depending on the pitcher.

If the cap didn't exist we could have a few of these "platoon players" and play the right one depending on matchups, but because of the cap, roster rules, other MLS weird quirks, those players have to play against everyone, which is why the 'all-around' players, who may not be as elite in certain areas, but better overall, end up being more valuable in MLS (i.e the DeLeon type).

I've seen mention of a '200 page plan' a few times. Where is that coming from?

"200 pages" is another Ali Curtis meme like "in two weeks." A bit of a joke, and a bit of truth in both. The "200 pages" was also mentioned when Ali was hired by TFC.

One wonders if Alphonso Davies has sparked a “gold rush” of sorts on MLS talent (as much as the Americans would never admit it). Lots of outbound euro transfers this off-season of players under the age of 23.

Pains me to say it but I think more than a few will flop.

Well, Weston McKennie for the Yanks recently.

They have a few good ones. I’m a big fan of Tyler Adams and think Weston is pretty decent too. But let’s keep in mind those were top picks when talent was mostly being overlooked.

Not sure the current crop meets the same standards.

I don't think it's any more unusual than big name teams scooping up as much young kids with an inkling of talent as possible and see if any of them turns out any good, or sell for profit

That hurts Seattle, I still think Columbus will be strong next year, Philly will need to fill a hole or two but they will be hungry.

Looks like NYCFC is bringing in Franco Cervi from Benfica in Portugal as their third DP.

Thanks for that KB ....and subscribed. Some interesting thoughts on mid 20's going to the Championship - MLS needs to embrace that more.

Now THAT is what an aggressive Piatti replacement at winger looks like, to me.

So we are all to be over the moon with a 10 million transfer winger with 8 goals in the last three seasons? Not even a regular starter at benfica?
    Why is that inspiring?

    You’re welcome
I’d like to see a lot more loans stints, championship level would be great.
I also have a feeling that Rollins is right, I think the owners want to move to a selling league and have pretty much given up on the whole ‘top-5 league’ idea.

The only thing I don't think he gets right is the level of MLS competition - I would put MLS teams at Championship level. Which is way better then they used to be. Morris is going to Swansea because he wants to try Europe, even if its at the same level (in theory) as MLS. Seattle fans might be wondering what is going on but let the guy go.
