Wonder if Andrea Belotti would be keen on a move. Him + Insigne would be a hit on and off the field I'm sure.

Jozy might still be too injury prone to even use TAM on. I just think it is time for a clean break.

His contract expires in the summer and he’s expected to leave Torino. He’s 27, has a pretty good goal rate and is always hustling. He would be fun to watch and would succeed in the mls.

He’s had interest from a few premier league and serie a clubs and I can’t see him leaving Europe… unless of course he wants to collect a big paycheque.

FWIW Ayo posted on an Instagram story Saturday night that his comment on Dunn's Instagram post was taken out of context. To paraphrase what he said it was to the effect of he never meant any disrespect to the club or to suggest that he was done with the club. He merely meant that out of the core of young guys that came up together they all had aspirations of moving to Europe and Dunn was the "first one out". I wish I had took a screen shot to post it here

^ Might be a contract requirement (no trade clause) rather than our choice.

Any player with a no-trade clause, which he has, is ineligible.

Surprised Lawrence was left unprotected, that seems strange given that Gallardo qualified for both re-entry and expansion drafts but was only used to flesh out the former.

Not sure how to read that.

    So for Jozy:

    (from Sam Stejskal)

Jozy can't be bought down at all. Only DPs w/ budget charges under $1.6125m are eligible for TAM.

Salary > $1.6125m: DP. Cannot be bought down w/ TAM.

Salary between $612k-$1.6125m: DP. Can be bought down off DP status w/ TAM (or GAM, for that matter).

That should be a non issue, I don't think anyone was proposing to buy him down to a TAM slot and throw all kinds of TAM out the window to do it. We can buy out the deal, though, right? EG pay him his contract but release him and free up the slot?

True enough. Unless they see Lawrence as a CB. Not too concerned that they will take him though.

    Buyout of Guaranteed Contract

A club may buyout one player (including a Designated Player) who has a Guaranteed Contract during the offseason and free up the corresponding Salary Budget space. Such a buyout is at the club's expense.

A club may not free up space in the Salary Budget with a buyout of a player's contract during the season. If a club buys out a player's contract during the season, the buyout amount will be charged against the club's Salary Budget.

He would probably be worth taking and trading though. Would likely be interest in him.

Shocking that Molinaro whos main job is apparently writing on an mls team didnt understand the rule and thought that Altidore could be brought down to TAM with his current contract and was debating that on twitter lol

The amount of people who were pointing out he was wrong and he refused to believe them. It took Stejskal stepping in to tell him it's not possible and Molinaro still goes "The MLS rule page makes it sound like it was possible"

This is a problem a lot of writers have, the air of arrogance that they know so much more than anyone who isn't a writer. I am glad John is writing about TFC again, but I find myself disagreeing with him on a great many things lately. He seems to write articles about how things need to change and follows them up with how guys like Jozy and Bradley are great and should stay.

Molinaro has a long history of getting things right, and MLS salary rules are batshit crazy. If he needs a pass, he certainly gets one from me.

Also, we are not talking about good choices. Call me crazy, but I think if your only options are buying Jozy out or keeping him, there is an argument for keeping him. BB has managed him before and is well equipped to call this.

Back to the Lawrence one, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to leave him out there. I would hope they have a “deal” that Charlotte pass them by, as an absolute worst case scenario. I thought Lawrence was the one of the few decent pieces of business from last year.

I can’t imagine Lawrence not being picked (and dealt).

I am guessing this means TFC have a deal lined up for another LB.
