The championship is better than MLS. Its a top 7 league in the world, Brentford has 3 or 4 wins over EPL teams this year... there isnt a MLS team who could do that. There are three teams with players worth over 100 million and brentford who is very close. I would say the top MLS teams would be around 10-15 in the EFL.

I originally put mid level Championship but edited it out for some reason but I stand by what I said based on my watching both Championship & Div 1 on DAZN.

Hard to say no to LA for a guy like Giovinco I think, if his motivation is find himself and his family a decent place to live while making some money.

Does his family still live in Toronto?

This would drive me crazy and amuse me greatly, both at the same time.

I'm sure I saw somewhere MLS, talentwise, is at about the same level as the English division 3.

Well there is no Div 3 in England now - that would be Div 1. And, not based on what I see but its all IMHO on all sides so...

This conversation (comparing MLS to other leagues around the world and more specifically, England) is always a can of worms but I would somewhat agree with OG.

Conservatively, I would argue MLS is perhaps below the championship but would certainly come in above league one. Quick googling / crack logic: 2019 Vancouver had the second lowest payroll in MLS at about 8 million dollars. Last year league voted on instituting (or has instituted?) a salary cap of ~3.4 million dollars (2.5 million pounds). There’s also a salary survey floating around saying the average highest paid earner on each team in league one was one a pay packet of ~430 Thousand Dollars (248 thousand pounds).

I just don’t see how you get around that. It might be the best third division in the world but it’s still third division.

Wouldn't League 1 be the third division in Engalnd?

Basically wouldn’t they be swapping Pavon for Gio, doesn’t make sense to me. Cant see Vanney doing that, Gio may want to come back and go to LA but I just cant see it.

For the simplicity of this debate, we should probably be speaking in terms of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tier to get around the crazy league naming conventions that now exist.

Seba as a DP in this league still makes sense to be honest. It’s all about whether or not you think you can get a better player and how much he asks for. Anything under 4.5m makes sense imo.

If the LA Galaxy Sign Giovinco - I was will be pretty upset. TFC would really need to sign someone that would make me forget about him.

Also - if he does sign with LAG - I'd expect Jozy to follow.

Giovinco has scored 1 goal in his past 22 games in Saudi Arabia. He is 34. Nostalgia aside, I won't be hurt by it.

Hopefully TFC can get to the point where they are doing the same. The draft seems like more of a crapshoot than ever.

I'm told a handful of #MLSSuperDraft prospects have withdrawn their names from the 2021 draft pool in order to return to school for spring seasons and focus on the 2022 draft.

I’m kind of surprised some of these kids are willing to for go their degree without guaranteed money, the draft is such a crapshoot

Was told a year ago that TFC wanted to bring Giovinco back, but Giovinco said he wouldn’t come back for a cent less than Pozuelo. Convo ended there.

Is that why we ended up with Piatti?

Yeah, and now that Vanney is not the coach and Armas is I think this becomes even less likely. Love the guy but if the club brings him back it’s based on nostalgia and not for the right reasons.

Best for all involved that we go different directions.
