MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
all wee arrrre sayyyyin'... is give us a gooooal......
AND avoid a red card
AND string together six passes?
Lol, we're setting some lofty goals for today's match...
Will TFC have more than 4 subs on the bench?
My expectations for this game are at an all time low for this team. I've watched one preseason game and unless things change, I don't care if I see another game this season.
Last time we played RSL we kicked them out of the playoffs! Oh wait......
I predict:
- we have 6 men sent off
- we lose 13-1
- we score 7 own goals
- Johnston, in a fit of sobriety, does the Charleston for half-time entertainment.
Now then, carrying these expectations into the game, I should be pleasantly surprised today.
Right?
Back line as it was for the previous games - Harden, Cann, Zamperini, Attakora
Mids are a question, I expect Cronin in there, Jimmy B, JDG and Garcia?????
Up front DeRo and OBW.
Objectives I'd like to see for this game:
1) Sustained offense generating two or three good quality shots out of one sequence.
2) Better timing from the midfield and a series of penetrating passes.
3) Continued good work from the back line.
4) At least one goal
5) Competitive in work ethic and result. Win would be nice, but a draw works at this point.
6) 11 men complete the game.
And following the game, I would like to see the players come right over to the supporters to clap, just as the other teams in this tournament have traditionally done.

I'd like to see a competitive lineup, so Ty Harden wouldn't be starting wide (he's a centre back, emergency fullback at best), Said would be starting as centre back with Attakora.
@*#*#*$*$*$ this is the bit where I fly into a rage over this weird, pseudo-experimental preseason. Our actual lineup options are fairly limited, based on available personnel.
(ok, calmer now.)
How about something semi-rational, Senor Preki, sumpin' like:
------------------Frei-------------------
Wynne---Attakora----Said-----Brennan
Saric-----Cronin------DeGuzman----Gala
-----------DeRo------ObW--------------
Although, I assume there will be trialists galore today. WHo knows what we'll see?
have any of you in Charleston seen DeRo today? A friend of mine swears he saw him at his son's Erin Mills game at the Hershey Centre at 8AM today...
you mean a line up like we actually want to win? hmmm why play players at their best positions?....thats why I'm not a coach, we have to give all the kids their equal amount of time on the pitch because lord knows with 4 subs you never know who will have to play what? Are the trainers suiting up in the YFC tradition?

Tonight's @torontofc line up: Frei, Attakora, Harden, Garcia, Brennan, Gala, Saric, de Guzman, Cronin, De Ro, White
wow, so are we going to have a shot on target today? I have a feeling De Ro will score.
interesting that Wynne isn't getting more time.
Wynne's one of the teams union reps. maybe he's till in transit? I was hoping we might see a trialist at forward.
Still no Said in the starting line up? Is he not fit enough yet? Or are we certain we're going to sign him so don't need to try him out much?
and Garcia again? fuck. With the cba news, I want to be excited for the season now we definitely have one, I really do, but fuck this is depressing.
Kristian Jack had a good theory about that during the thursday Footy Show podcast. Mo brings him in, realizes by the time he gets here that there is no way in hell he can afford to actually sign a guy with his pedigree given the massive issues with our cap room (dude isn't going to be on a Gambian type contract) and so there is not much point in playing him except as an extra piece.
Of course I hope he is dead wrong, and they are just super sold on him already. Still makes no sense though, preseason should be about stabilizing the team, not a freakin tryout. I know i know... this is TFC we are talking about.
Maybe now there is an established cap we will get some clarity.
And it's live.
No matchday chat today ?
i predict that mojo gets bitten by a teenage werewolf, and nascar guy, with one of the guns he was shooting, shooting werewolf mojo with a silver bullet.
but yet we still lose. we're not winning, why be so blind
anyone else watching the live feed feeling like a bit of a masochist at the moment? :P
