FC London hooks up with Toronto FC
FC London will affiliate its organization with Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC.
“We are now accepted as a CAP’s program (club affiliation program,)” said FC London president and CEO Ian Campbell. “That means we have access to (Toronto FC) coaching, curriculum and players for future promotions for the club.”
FC London will not be a direct farm club for Toronto FC.
“But Toronto FC would like us to point talented players in the direction of their academy program,” Campbell said.
a ha ha heh he hoo.. ha
In a Toronto Star article today the new Tom basically said it might not be until next year.
Let the excuse making begin. Listen we knew it was going to be hard to bring quality guys into not only MLS but our wooden spoon team.
This is just pure speculation but it almost seems that all of our resources have been on this DP search. I just want quality guys coming in. Could careless if there DP quality. We should be getting those fringe players from Brazil, Argentina, ect that can bring quality at a midrange price. More Laba's and less Forlans I say.
Just hypothesizing - but maybe those fringe mid-range price players don't want to come here & turn us down. The Forlan (or similar type signing) might be more of a move to break that down / attract them...
I personally could easily see players saying "...Toronto? For what I am making now? No thanks, I'll stay put..."
That could easily happen with 7-years of our performance...
Who knows what the answer is
"...Money wasn't tight, but it like, it wasn't right..."
^ I somewhat agree Carts but its a double edge sword. Laba took a chance and came here on a decent price.
He's starting to get noticed as a fantastic DM and a great passer. He's getting more attention here which is great for him. I think that's one way of looking at it. Fringe players in Argentina, Brazil, ect looking for a little more spotlight. There skills are really magnified here compared to playing there.
To add to your point, there are lots of Central / South American players who are successful in MLS and they started with nothing close to a Laba-like profile. In fact, this is much more typical of the average south american in MLS as opposed to guys like Laba or Castillo who were brought in as stars.
Javier Morales played in the Faroe Islands prior to coming here. Fabian Espindola was very, very, underwhelming in his profile. These are the type of guys you can bring here, they will be hungry to play and not too picky about their destination or wage demands. Regular roster players as opposed to DP guys.
I don't see this posted anywhere

Seems like Leiweke is doing whatever he can to get his fingerprints on the MLSE teams. Whether it be DP signings, hiring new GMs, upgrades to facilities or taking pictures out of hallways. Just seems like he is trying to do something/anything to let people know that he is here.
He obviously likes the sound of his own voice.
Atleast he's talking about infrastructure instead of signings and players. I've had enough of Presidents and board types trying to run our sports teams. Let the GM's and coaches do there jobs and GTFO.
Yeah, Aron Winter is getting a little too much credit lately.
Philosophy was great (wish would would kept that with someone else) but he had no clue how to pull it off. He was very, very, far away from understanding how things work here. Paul Mariner aside, even if they gave him a better MLS person to work with, my money would be on him failing.
Well maybe I'm just reaching my breaking point with the club, this season I feel more like I'm just going through the motions going to games whereas when Winter was here I looked forward to games and at least seeing goals and passes strung together. Regardless of one's opinion of the Winter era I still don't get the need to take a shot at a past mgmt group, just get on with running the club. I find TL is talking just way too much and is coming across as an ego maniac, as if there weren't a lot of things working in his favour in L.A....
