Imagine being the amateur side losing 6-0 and the other team decides to bring in $6.25M Italian international Federico Bernardeschi. I mean, fuck.

CSB was peeved at this move- they complained a lot.

Fede in makes no sense - the guy is in the best shape of anyone on the team - I’m pretty sure running for 30 minutes today against a minor league squad is really going to affect his fitness 8 days from now

LOL, we take off a DM for a striker when up 7-0. Good god.

He's clearly got assigned minutes per player, and they need reps.

Yeah, I'd agree. His issue is his read of speed. He's made that mistake about five times tonight, and speed of play was the very specific knock my front office friend mentioned about him.

So he's clearly not adjusting or can't.

Shame, because his technique and movement are really good. I think if he were kept close to goal he'd score some goals. But he's not a rounded enough player to deserve a slot.

Still, he's 22. Maybe another year of humility or a loan and he'll catch up.

Yeh, I just think his brain can't handle the speed and for that wage.

Wow...the xG for St Laurent is way higher then it should be.

I think it's a playing discipline thing more than his potential ability to read. The reason I say that is every single occasion, it's been a strip from behind, because his short legs can't prevent a guy from getting around him cleanly.

So he has to learn to adjust in that specific moment, when switching direction, either by having an instinctive side step or by trapping it and putting his body in front of the man spread out, so that the defender has to go through him.

I'm sure they're working on it because it seems a very specific hole in his game.

Herdman is going to lay into a few people after this game - a lot of "what were you thinking here?" sort of moves going on.

Good for them - They got their goal and now Herdman can get mad about something in practice tomorrow.

Did he just blow that before the clock hit 90?!?

    I think he did.

We were sort of shit for a lot of that. Not much point in playing a team at that level.

It’s good they have these data points. With some players it’s hard to know how they’ll fit in with stronger parts around them.

They can clearly point to things in this game and say “clean it up”

Nobody looks particularly ready to graduate to first team football who isn’t already there to be frank. Some of the first team guys need to clean it up defensively too.

Respect to CS Saint-Laurent, they really pushed for that goal. We better win the cup this year. I hate seeing Vancouver win it.

Vancouver trailing on away goals in the 54 min against Cavalry. That would be embarrassing if it holds.
Edit: Oop, Im wrong. Other way around. I'm getting old.

Vancouver loses to Cavalry 1-0 but goes through on away goals.

Still true, in a sense. They pushed forward so much that they just had no transitional defence. The first game, they played a low-mid block against us throughout. They had 22 shots in this... and an xG under 2. So it was a "we need to score" strategy but they just didn't have the final finish to back it up.

That Loic Kwemi is a heck of a good player, though. How he's not playing pro is beyond me.

Forge leading 2-1, 70th minute… is it away goals if Montreal score?

This really has been a shambolic few days for Montreal.

EDIT: Forge GK with a point blank save in 86th minute. Wow.

So do we play Forge in the semis? Or do we need to wait for the Ottawa FC / Pacific game to complete on May 29?

I don't understand why the bracket to the finals is not posted.
