One thing having Insigne on the team though or a guy like that is make the team more marketable. Players want to play with other great players.

This won't happen but part of me wishes we could sign Insignes best bud Ciro Immobile for 2 years. Not a future signing but immediate like Luis Suarez.

I don’t particularly have an issue with Americans but I do have an issue with the continual recycling of candidates from the MLS and USSF fraternity. There are plenty of good Americans (and others obviously) out there who never get an opportunity because they are not in the club.

Meanwhile, Chris Armas gets 40,000 chances to be successful before achieving anything. If only the rest of us could get so many chances to fail before succeeding.

I also think these sorts over-value their own. Altidore was a resoundingly lazy signing and never would have been justified by anyone not hypnotized by his USMNT profile.

Well first of all, Jozy is the price for getting rid of Defoe.

    +

2017 Altidore scoring the winning goals in both the Conference finals and the final....with a broken right foot.....is something

Former Toronto Lynx defender Rumba Munthali is the new interim coach of Nashville SC.

Apologies, I should have said resigning. The initial deal was borderline genius.

Agreed on the resigning....BIG mistake. He was a shell of himself after his 2019 injury.

At the time, we all thought it was Manning but I am beginning to wonder how much he was listening to MB.

Interesting. Brought into the Nashville academy/fold recently after a number of years/dues at SKC academy. Wonder if for just this reason? Among the first wave of western footballers in mid to late 2000’s to go play in China.

When I heard Berna was renegotiating his contract this was the first thing to pop up in my head. Both DPs adding a year or two to spread out the $ to bring in another compatriot. But would need to be on max TAM, not DP.

The Vancouver FC CanPL team also offered free admission to anyone with a Miami ticket to their match. That's one way to try to steal some Whitecaps fans with some anti MLS sentiment

I posted this months ago when the schedule was first released (I did a 30 second search and couldn’t find the post)… Messi was never going to Vancouver.

This is a period of very heavy schedule congestion, it's plastic, it is a brutally long flight (with both the last and next game in Miami - they aren’t on a road trip), he needs to find load management games to skip generally, and Messi is focused on Copa, and can’t afford to take stupid risks right now.

I will repeat what I said then too - Messi may well skip the game here in Toronto in October also. He may well be “rested” for the playoffs, and it gets cold in October at night here. (I have a bit less certainty on this - him skipping Vancouver was a lock.)

The Toronto game will definitely be Shield driven. If they've already locked it up he won't be here.

What we do have going for us is a stellar pitch.

I'm pipe dreaming but how cool would it be if this match was for the shield?

Whole thing went as badly as possible.

It's a lesson learned - when Miami comes it should be treated as any other game. Nothing special.
I'm confident in October TFC/Toronto will do absolutely nothing to hype it up other then it being a regular game.

If nothing else, Miami is creating a club for everyone else in the league to loathe.

Do you really think that is possible with our front office? They mention Miami every chance they get in their emails to us. They will try to profit on the hype for sure. I really don't see this going down any other way. Messi FC is coming...

I think there's a decent chance Messi DOES play here in fall.

I think people underestimate how important the Supporter's Shield is to players. And I think Cincy is going to push them down to the wire.

If either falls off the pace then no, he won't want to travel before the playoffs. But if it's tight, I can't see a guy with his mindset missing a game that might decide a title.

Toronto to Miami is a far shorter flight time and no timezone compared to Vancouver as well. Plus we have grass.

Personally I think Cinci passes them and has it locked up before this game.
