He needed that and given how badly that pitch bounced that ball around, well taken

Playing Bernie in this? Seems stupidly risky on this pitch.

I think in MLS that gets called a handball. In less-strident leagues, given Mabika's arm was stationary, albeit a little extended, they say ball to hand, given the speed of the play.

But in MLS, no way we get that call.

Yeah. Really don't like this idea. Even if he comes on and scores 5, risking your best player on a garbage pitch against a semi-pro team isn't smart.

Seeing him is a treat for the local fans but it does seem risky.

Some of our guys just don't know how to move the ball quick and flat. Mabika's weight out of the back there was way too light.

I think on our pitch, we should probably start a lot of yutes, because without being able to low block a very small pitch, tonight would've been much the same as Simcoe.

Lots of talent on St. Laurent but typical of guys at the CPL level/semi-pro levels (and CPL teams aren't much better than St. Laurent, let's be honest): just enough mistakes and bad decisions to prevent them being pro.

Jimmy Brennan said the CPL is a good example of how difficult it is to be pro, because the guys there might have 5/7 tools needed or 6/7,b but they're just not quite good enough.

Not sure we have that many yutes more then what we saw tonight, to be honest.

Herdman isn't going with "bring in the TFCII people for half the starters" like Vanney did. He's building a squad of 19-21 and that's all that are going to see the pitch.

That’s a good assessment. It’s also interesting because sometimes you see guys who are wildly good in certain areas but (as you said) their overall game is defunct enough to prevent them from being pro. I think about Mo Babouli in this regard all the time.

The second leg of the CSSL series will be the 4th game in 11 days and only 3 days after playing Montreal, because of that I could see some TFC II callups mixed in with some of the backups. It is a really crazy stretch for the Reds thru the month of May, some really match congestion. That 11 day stretch includes a mid week trip to Nashville , we shall see i guess on much roster rotation we see.

Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
