The Italians did look good together… not sure if they want to play on the same side but I think that makes the most sense. Indeed, Bernie is probably made more effective playing there, and Richie would be best alone on the right flank.
And, yeah, that was one of Herdman’s first changes in his one match coached last season, Petretta to LCB and getting forward when possible… seems like his best position and it was pretty much how he was used in his successful years at Basel. Herdman studies this stuff as one must.
With the still depleted roster will be interesting to see if we get a short term signing from TFCII today?

I think this is a generally good move, to build the MNPRO team with promising youth from anywhere. It's all well and good to want to develop Canadian talent, but we should still have the best second team we can have. Apparently, the Brazilian defender is looking pretty decent as well.
Is Coello out for the weekend? Sort of feel like he needs to sit for a game and get his head straight after that last performance.

Confirmed in today's presser (Gawd Herdman is so open about all this) that Kosi is being looked at as a RCB who can join in. Close to starting this week but the quality of the opposition isn't the place said Herdman. Cup game Kosi will start
On that note, Herdman said this team is rotating through 19 players for starts - some TFCII up for benches but will not start. He will not bring in young people just because they exist.
Here is the TFC II starters. This probably means that 17 year old midfielder is getting another short term assignment.
Also of note is no Charlie Sharp at all.

Since Herdman has been here the signings have been pretty interesting. Gomis especially is an odd one for the league, a 22 year old who hasn’t played a pro match and isn’t North American then being trusted to start. “A bit of a gamble”, Herdman called his signing but it seems like there is real thoughtfulness in the gaffer’s scouting of him.
Herdman did quite the bit on Sheffield United yesterday.
All started when he was looking at a WB from them. Then they noticed how the structure and approach was similar - 3 CB's with the RCB & LCB expected to join the attack but get back.
One of the reasons why I'm against getting rid of Hernandez is any GM brought in is likely to want to change that consistency of what the strategic approach is. Unlike in Europe where the Sporting director decides approach and then the manager has to fit that, most MLS teams are whatever the manager and GM like to play. Like, I highly doubt in 5-8 years when Nancy is not at CBus anymore that Bez will keep the same style.
Staniland looked really good. Sprayed highly accurate, big, curving passes all over the place, tracked back well. Maybe some athletic deficit at 19 as he's not the biggest lad, but lots of skill.
Batiz, Perlman and Barrow all showed particularly well as well. Altobelli had the goal. The goal we gave up was a dumb one, DeRosario ranging too far from his net.
Toronto FC announced that the club has signed Toronto FC II midfielder Andrei Dumitru to an MLS short-term agreement for Saturday’s MLS regular season match against New England Revolution.

Akinola, Kosi or Mabika on the way out?

Hernandez said Jonathan Osorio restructured his contract so he is no longer a DP - he wasn't bought down with TAM or GAM. He said Richie Laryea has carried a DP tag since start of the season. But he Laryea won't require a DP tag next year and will have a DP slot open in 2025.

My guess is that "core starter" is a midfielder in that Marky Delgado mold.
An outside the box thought on who might go, especially if the player brought in is a forward - DeAndre Kerr.
