Couple more picks, including Maher's college teammate.

MLS.com on Spicer:
https://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft...y-surprise-mls
Beginning to wonder if these draft picks are being used like "discovery rights" - draft a prospect, see if they do something back in college and talk to their agents when they do.
Yeah, I think they're using to gauge later bloomers, like Maguire and maybe Charlie Sharp this year.
Spicer was already on the T&T national radar but he's also a 23-year-old senior. They could've gone in for him before this year but didn't even though his numbers were good.
Interestingly, both Bank and Spicer were taken from Catholic private schools.
Maher was the team captain of St. Louis FC Academy.
My predictions for where these guys start the year
Spicer - on the first team bench, getting 30ish minutes a game.
Maher - Depends on upcoming business, but as of right now is probably the last CB on the roster. MLS Next Pro is his likely starting point.
The other two guys like was previously mentioned are likely draft and follows.
From Davidson’s article:
“Spicer offers Toronto versatility in that he can play on both wings as well up front. He also can play wingback.”
Spicer was already signed by the league pre-draft but not as a GA. Spicer even though he could have played another year in college he had already played four. He was a player like Sharp who got an extra season due to Covid thus the 2020 season not counting towards eligibility.
Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
Yeh, I think Spicer is a sub forward - the talk of WB & winger is unlikely given how much JH loves his metrics and skillsets.

Another nail in Akinola career I suspect.
Wake up, guys. It's everyone's favorite day in December. The re-entry draft! Stage two! The list of available players below.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2023-...le-player-list
Not sure on his contract expectations, but I'd take a punt on Teenage Hadebe. Missed a lot of time last year from injury, but has shown to be a decent CB when healthy.
Rossetto from Atlanta is another potential guy. Not a world beater, but is 27 and can do a job in MLS. Of course, the last South American we got from Atlanta's attitude might throw off both club and player.

Yeh, is there anybody on that list i want us to be required to provide an offer to?
Chichirito for the LOL's?
Looking at things slightly differently and assuming that selected players include things like right of first refusal etc, I’d take Yerson Mosquera. His loan is up and he’ll be heading back to England, but I think he ends up back in MLS before long and it would be like securing guaranteed GAM in the future with virtually no downside.
So, the re-entry draft was conducted based on this

I'm sure our media guys will hound TFC for the scoop on if they picked someone or not sometime in the next 18 hours.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got GAM.

Hmm, 50k in GAM for what became the rights to Derrick Williams. Maybe we could have used him… I wonder if we’ll proceed with the same CBs as last season? It wouldn’t surprise me given the contracts we have.
Not like Williams is the great prize of free agency but at moment our CB hopes seem to rely partly on converting the most overpaid LB in the league into a CB. Who knows, it might work out. I’m going out on a limb to suggest that he’ll be a better CB than our former captain if pressed into regular duty.

More noise about Bernie leaving on loan.

Insigne and Berna aren't going anywhere. We are stuck with these lumps.
Bernie leaving on a 6 month loan really does nothing for us besides clear up half of his DP salary charge. If we sign another DP and Fede stinks it up back in Italy, we are screwed when he is returned back to us in July similar to what happened to Atlanta with Ibarra this year. He needs to be sent somewhere on a free transfer or a buyout needs to be reached.
