Dude… musically, arguable thanks to Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
Socially, Bakersfield is the armpit of the western hemisphere. Massive air pollution, acres of fruit-picking migrant labourers with no work protections and often illegal, high crime, gangs, meth.
Nightmare of a town. I started a series based there but have never published the first one as it was too weirdly a mixture of black comedy and utter bleakness.
So I guess Schaff will suit up against us this Saturday. Should be interesting.
I was only talking musically...
FWIW, Nashville in Portland tonight.
Any news on MAK?
MAK trained on his own outside with the team yesterday. Fingers crossed he's able to play, even if it's just for 45 mins
Laryea in might free jmr/Thompson to be in a more natural position
Also me coping on Nelson
I’m assuming Richie won’t play this game. He doesn’t know the system yet, although he’s been playing a similar 3-4-3 with a high press at Forest.
New Hair Colour = first goal guaranteed
Nashville flew home today...didn't get back into town until late this afternoon
In essence, instead of booking a red eye charter & sleeping on the plane overnight, Nasvhille slept in, recovered that day but lost a day of training.

Not sure if that's good or bad - we tend to fly the overnight & get home.
Will be interesting to see how Bernie and Richie get on together if both play together. Richie can be a bit selfish and Bernie also seems to enjoy taking defenders on by himself aswell.
Should be very interesting. Pretty much all of Richie’s selfishness was to our great benefit… so, not sure if it was selfishness or just smart and necessary. Richie is probably a better winger than a RB. I suspect that if Bernadeschi has the option to go to Richie outside he won’t avoid it. It might take a little time though.
There are probably goals awaiting Bernadeschi if Layrea can do his thing deep on the right and in.

When Insigne started, Criscito turned into an overlapping FB who allowed Insigne to drop deeper & go inside & find space.
The same will happen with Laryea (with the exception of Richie being not as positionally rigorous as Criscito which will mean Bernadeschi will be coming back a bit more).
If Richie doesn't pass to the available man, he will get told off as quickly as Nelson.
If you listen to the BB's Training Sound Presser yesterday...
Not so sure the same will happen with Laryea yet; I agree it should though, eventually.
Got a vibe; hints?
With MAK, expected Fede at CF and JJ at RW.
If MAK does not play...
Fede as a CMID 10/SS?
If Laryea ready, then at RW?
AA at CF with JJ on the bench; half match, message sending?
JMR at RB?
Some player tinkering?

I think they start JJ, Bob sent his message to him publicly and now the pressure is on to perform. I'm sure he was feeling it already with 7 games and no goals, no better way to get in your own head so hopefully he can handle it. Plus he has been pulled off around the 60-70 min mark in the last 3 games. I can't see Bob saying you need to go perform and then sitting him to start the game...
Plus it's not like Ayo has shown anything much better than JJ, his pace, movement and everything just seems off..I don't know what it is. People saying he looks out of shape and tired when coming onto the field, could also be his contract and lack of production is weighing on him mentally too...
I know Richie has like 1 practice, watching film on the flight, and whatever they do tomorrow afternoon to prepare but at this point, he'd probably still grasp the system better than his alternates.
FWIW...lots of Richie in training video today.
I suspect he either starts for 60 or comes on in the second half.
Down in Nashville with my son. Got our tickets pretty excited for this one.
