'It's been a fun summer to be a soccer fan in Toronto'.
What planet are these guys on? Do they actually watch the games?
Anyone who wants rid of BB is 'ridiculous'. The arrogance and unsubstantiated comments of these self-proclaimed experts...
Give me one data point to support keeping BB? Did they see the game in Chicago where we made all the same mistakes as the season. opener??

Bill Manning on DP spot:
"Unless the right player presents itself over the next 3 weeks, we may push that to the winter window. And then see do you go with a young DP, where you can then add 3 more players. Some will be how the team evolves."
maybe the young dps is the way to go unless someone they cant resist comes calling has a reg dp
Saying that no defenders are coming this window is the closest thing to an official admission that the playoffs were never a goal this year that youre likely to get. It has been speculated here, but never communicated in any official capacity, for obvious reasons.
Basically what I took from this.
[QUOTE=Yuushalinsky;1965748]I think they got burned on the Soteldo acquisition and don't want to do that again.
yes...but im talking cheap talent not dp,,,,and that was curtis,,,,bob s old team had and still have all kinds of SA players on the roster, its a really big market and you can find some cheap talent.

Im starting to think the only standings they pay attention to are the Transfermarkt squad value standings
When I challenged Manning this evening on our not finding defensive support and highlighted that the best right back in the league had just left DC for the Whitecaps, he said that the problem was cap space.
That must have been the issue when Johnston and K. Millar went to the Impact too...
So there are two different youth initiatives. The first is a Young Designated Player. This is a player 23 or younger who signs as a designated player. They can have any salary and any transfer fee. If they are 20 or younger their cap hit is $150k. If they are 21-23, their cap hit is $200k.
If a team has a young DP or their 3rd DP makes $1.6M or less, a team gets 3 U22 slots. Otherwise they get one U22 slot. U22 slots can be used for players making $612k or less. They carry a cap hit of $150k for players 20 or younger and $200k otherwise. Players can continue to stay as a U22 until the year he turns 25. The real advantage with U22 slots however, is transfer fees don't count against their cap hit.
Hope that helps, these rules are too confusing.
You can't build 3/4 of a D line in a winter window.
The D men from Europe available in that window are not all that good.
Could we possibly get back Tony Gallacher or is that a big no?
And as for other defenders and CB's, can we not pick some temporarily from TFC II (if any are decent, I don't follow the roster) as well as the CPL? Surely there much be someone who can hold us over from the CPL?
He went to the SPL in the offseason. Edit: Ouch, on the leg.
He probably wouldn't take it, but we could try and beat all the big clubs in Europe (Barca, Newcastle, Tottenham, Sevilla) interested in Jason Denayer. He wants $6.5M (CAN, I converted it ) per season, apparently.
38 caps for Belgium, lockdown defender in ligue 1 for four seasons, currently a free agent.
I know some people don't like spending DP money on defenders, but if no one will give him what he's looking for, or we'd better it, a guy of that caliber would be worth it.
He's only 27 and probably wants more glory than we can afford to overcompensate with money. But if they were going to sign a DP defender, a guy of that level would probably make some people happier than an MLS guy.
The counter to this would be that they will be from MLS.
I will say it again, if TFC's (BB/BM) strategy at all involves a DP CB then just go big now...
Walker Zimmerman + Eric Millar + 33%SellOn for JM-R.
P.S.
Though my gut is telling me that if they do not have an indication already from Osorio that he wants to / will stay,
then they will need a DP at the MID; to address his loss and that of Bradley's eventually.
IMO, the most important interview segment out of the Monday's Bernardeschi TFC Presser,
is TSN's with Bill Manning at about 2:35 doing a Patches O'Houlihan 5D's of Dodge Duck Dip Dive Dodge with a simple pivot.
