Bernardeschi makes the most sense team wise. Obviously the cap makes that more tricky. Manning will know who he is since he searched for Italian players out of contract on Transfrmarket.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Either Belotti or Bernardeschi would be outstanding for us.
Either way, the Ali Curtis era of underwhelming DPs is officially over!
Let's go win some cups!
The spot in the Athletic article for the Richie news was also interesting. It was in one of the last paragraphs after all the firm transfer news was discussed.
I do think Richie ends up getting loaned out - I don't really think he's PL ready. But I also don't see him wanting to come back to MLS.
The 15:00 arrival AC flight from Rome today is delayed until 16:17
The 18:00 AT from Rome is ontime.
Think it was reported that MLSE sprung for a private jet to accommodate everyone that Insigne was bringing.
All we know is that he is coming via private jet from Rome Ciampino airport. Presumably landing at YYZ?
More transfer crumbs.

Bernardeschi to TFC being reported...
Yeh, lets just revive the whole "looks good on the wing but never scores" TFC meme from 2010-2016.....
He played wingback last year for the first time in his career.
I haven't watched (or maybe noticed) him, but if he is,
as sec223 pointed out, good enough to keep making the nats without scoring regularly in Serie A, he has something about him.
still, that seems it would be a very expensive way to get a converted defender, nO matter how good their technique is.
I mean this was the only way to go for MLSE , after all the crummy Bill Manning coach and manager appointments, this club was on the fast track to becoming C List entertainment in this town, were fans going to show up at BMO to witness Coach Bradley’s “culture change” club full of promising youths? Absolutely not Millions had to be spent on Insigne or this team would be playing in front of 8 or 9 thousand regularly
I mean, I get that Bernardeschi is a well known Series A player and above-and-beyond what we have on our roster. But for the money he would get (and the use of a DP slot) are there not better options? It feels a bit like VDW part 2, blowing good money on a luxury part rather than a position that is a greater need and more influential.
Management just sounds downright lazy if we are going this route.
The fact that we even get to have these debates has to make fans of some MLS teams incredibly jealous. Imagine being an Earthquakes fan.
Or they may be hedging against not getting the right loan or signing in the summer window. They start up again so early now.
I do know that right after they were promoted,
Forest told someone at the CSA that he would
get a chance to compete for the job and that despite his desire
for a consistent lineup, Notts Forest manager Steve Cooper does rate him. But that mightve just been them trying to placate a players national setup.
the outside story line is that they copied Orlando: they brought him in as a makeweight to get his buddy Cyle Larin to sign (they are among the teams vying for him), which is a long-standing tactic by English clubs hiring foreign players.
If Richie thought that was the case he'd probably request the loan.
I think they may have told him he'll only be a backup and they're shopping, and both parties know he needs to play regularly before Qatar.
Its a shame. He's so good on the ball, I think he could stick and
contribute in almost any league. But not a strong enough defender for the Prem.
"Its not from a known reliable source" says that report
Our known reliable source on this site says its a no go so......
Now that we're near the July window, we don't need a DP slot to sign Bernardeschi. They can do a
six-month TAM deal knowing Poz has already said he'd be willing to discuss a non DP deal to stay. They then flip the two players' status next season.
Bernadeeschi on a DP slot is a waste of a DP slot
Prove me wrong with something other then...he played for Juve & the Azzuri
I was down there every week with another 20K people watching Mariner trot out Reggie Lambe, Logan Emory, and Ty Harden in 2012 after 5 years of pure debacle so I don't think we'd be seeing 8 or 9K ever no matter what was out there. Couldn't be worse than those years if they tried.
