MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Red Bulls have signed Ashley Fletcher on loan from Watford. Decent player in the Championship but didn’t do much in the premier league. I don’t remember him being terrible at West Ham but just looked it up and he didn’t score a goal while there but still sold for about £10 million when he left West Ham.
I am quite interested to see how he gets on. Only 26 years old. Wonder if he’ll put numbers like Wright-Phillips or Luke Rodgers?

A team that's not even technically part of MLS yet, St Louis, already has a better GK than we do...and maybe the rest of the league as well. They just officially signed Roman Burki from Borussia Dortmund.
I don't get it.
There must be TONS of high quality 2nd and 3rd string keepers all across Europe who (I believe/think) wouldn't mind being a starter here. Why are we settling for Westberg and Bono? Is there something I'm missing?
St. Louis is working with 2023 budgets which are set to go up with TV revenue.
But, I agree this is the sort of move we should be making. I suspect Bono is around because his contract is a boat anchor.
Just gonna put this here for the next time somebody says we should go young South American on a DP again...

really, really hope it's not us.
don't think it is tho
Not worried about his age? I admit, I haven't seen him play except perhaps during the Euros.
Edit: Also, he just signed a deal with Juventus until 2023, so we'd be shelling out serious cash of some sort for a 37-year-old.
Also interesting that this was speculated a month ago on a Juve fan news page.

This now reeks of bullshit. (I mean, it always did. He's 37 and LA already has five centre backs.)
He agreed on a contract with LA before even getting an okay from his family to move there? I find that even more hard to believe.
They aren't aware of his situation, given that Sky Italia is reporting it? No one in his family has watched the news in the last month?
Just has that odor of Frabrizio trying to cook up a deal that doesn't exist on behalf of some agent.
Chiellini might be coming to MLS, but what is being stated, the way it's being stated...
Fabrizio Romano... Huh?
On this, couldn't agree more. Well dissected jloome!
FR is starting to indulge while basking in his own self glory... jumping the shark... a crash as it is happening!

Question? Curiosity is cold killin this cat...
Could share remuneration / shareholder status impact DP consideration / amortization in such contracts?
I suspect perhaps... only if and when a contract does not run it's term; early termination by the team/league, a la Jozy?
Still, could shares be utilized as a DP workaround?
I suspect such an agreement can't even be ex parte since the 'league' owns the contract?
Moreover, any significant stakeholder change in team ownership would have to be disclosed?
Nah more fiction.
His agent told The Guardian a few days ago it's total nonsense.
It was ridiculous from second one. They're not giving a near-retirement player hundreds of millions of asset value. When Beckham got his franchise rights, a new one was only 10M!
It's just more looney bullshit from excited simpletons in the unfiltered modern
media. They will pounce on or create any pseudo-plausible news rumour to get attention.
