Marc Dos Santos turned down the Atletico Ottawa job as he has another gig lined up that will be announced in the next week. He was assistant to Bradley at LAFC in their first year wasnt he? Something to watch out for.

If I'm not mistaken, Sorber was once in the running to be our coach. I want to say back in the Kevin Payne era.

Not Italian, but close enough I guess
^Hard to imagine a better number 9 to play beside Insigne!
I posted this a long time ago when the Insigne rumour first started... Mertens at his age/stage is actually a lot easier to imagine in MLS than Insigne.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff

While we are at it, isn't Politano 18 months out?
Let's do this properly!

Normally this would be a "THIS GUY'S TOO OLD" but I think ensco has it - there's a lot of built in chemistry here and, depending on salary, we maaaaay just be able to sway him to not be a DP.

Mertens would be 35 in the summer, would be a very bad use of a dp spot.
The Tigres stuff has a mell of possibility. The Sotledo stuff has the smell of failure
Can't trade TAM anymore since the new CBA.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2021-...nd-regulationsTargeted Allocation Money may not be traded
We declined Mullins' option and he went unclaimed during the Re-Entry Draft. He's now free to sign with any club, so we can't trade him (we don't have his rights anymore - only would have his rights if we made a bonafide offer, which given we didn't pick up his option (which would be more or less equivalent to a bonafide offer amount) and that he already posted a Thank you TFC and goodbye post on instagram implies that we didn't)
Teams can no longer trade unused DP slots.

I've done some rough math and we have a combined $4.5M in allocation money and salary cap space remaining. So we have some space, but that can get eaten up quickly if we sign a few TAM level players. I've put in some estimates for Akinola and Shane O'Neil's contracts.
I'll see if I can upload my spreadsheet to Google Docs in case others want to take a look and critique my math.
I'm surprised we haven't had any Young DP rumours.
i'd much rather salcedo as a DP than mertens.
TAM is going to decrease every year under the new CBA until it's gone As TAM goes down GAM goes up. So eventually it'll be Salary Budget + just GAM. EDIT : let me double check that. Can't make head nor tail out of it between the 2020 and 2021 CBAs. Wait until the 2022 roster regs are published I guess
The discretionary TAM is already gone .

I wish MLS would just adopt Uefa Financial Fair play rules and be done with GAM Tam and the rest
First thing I thought of was automatic chemistry between the two of them. Even at Mertens age he is legit scoring threat every game in serie A for Napoli still and plays the majority of the game before getting subbed. The right deal may not be able to be struck given our MLS cap setup but man, he would be more dangerous than majority of current MLS players and paired with Insigne up top with Pozuelo as well the ball movement would be great. But realistically unless he is willing to take a big pay cut just to come for the experience it ain't happening.
