Interesting piece by a Latinx member of Timbers Army about how that group treated Latinx people among them last night at CCL.
I've often wondered about the whole "don't bring that shit in here" stance - makes sense for Impact fans in the South to be quietly moved & I know its BEEN best to not have away support for CCL games in the south. But, maybe...maybe...something to think about.

Columbus Crew SC set to rebrand to Columbus SC
https://www.10tv.com/article/news/lo...6-6afd4c92c4da
May actually be worse than the Impact rebrand and that's saying something. Do these people not realize how ridiculously unpopular and poorly thought out these dumb projects are?
I thought the Crew had a pretty color name, logo and color scheme. It was unique. I hate forcing these generic City Name Whatever Club names to be more like Europe.
Ok I get it what your saying but if it wasn’t for these new owners who came in and not only saved this team but also gave their fans a brand new nice soccer specific stadium, this team would have folded. So if I’m a Crew fan just be grateful this new ownership came in and saved the team and even gave the fans a real nice looking new stadium!

Apparently "The Crew" will be like "the Reds"
I can kinda see it but my gawd that particular logo is bad.
They presented this to the Nordecker on Friday & reports are people were angry - a lot of people invested in "the Crew" name.
Don't forget Bez said a year ago "No rebrand or change of colors".
Guess they didn't learn from Chicago and Montreal. This is a lot of bad, I mean terrible, rebrands.
I really can't even think of any way to describe how bad that is.
The current crest is good. If they want to drop 'Crew' but keep the current crest, fine, but that new one is abysmal.
Luckily TFC won't rebrand because we already have that generic name that everyone seems to want in MLS now.
Worse logo than Montreal, and that's saying something.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
I completely get wanting to drop Crew from the name, it's an eternal link to the clipart cowboy logo era. I do not get why they couldn't have kept their existing, and coincidentally recently rebranded logo and dropped the Crew though...
It's definitely not the worst logo in MLS and I get that it's built in the shape of the Ohio flag..kudos for that but again nothing wrong with what they have. In the end it's the supporters who who always keep "The Crew" alive (kinda like Skydome).
Looks like a bunch of consultants in a board room dreaming up solutions to a theoretical problem that never existed in the first place.
As stupid as some of these names are. People get attached to them. As long as its not discriminatory, youre better off leaving it in place.
Its like when Cathal Kelly was standing on his soap box taking about how the raptor should change their name to the huskies because the latter has this great history, etc, etc...
Except nobody cares. Even though the name was created by a stupid fan vote-in and swayed by the release of Jurassic Park movie, people like it. And what people like, you are best to keep.
I think the Crew is an atrocious name for a sports team, and if they have made mistakes in running away from that, I understand how that happened.
The new logo does seem off. But given what almost happened to this team, whatever. The owners need to broaden the fan base to make their investment pay off. Let them do that. Supporters can keep using Crew if they like.

"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
The Crew is about stupid sounding name as Sounders or Timbers or Earthquakes or Real Salt Lake etc.
But those names stuck and somehow works for them.
They got rid of the three hard-hat, semi-realistic rendering of a construction worker logo that was the worst part of the Crew thing in my opinion. Seems like they could just stop there.
All I can think of when looking at that new logo of Columbus' is:
I mean, the logo they had was an improvement over the previous one, the three guys in hardhats. But this one is worse than even that one. I don't know what they were thinking when they did that.
Chicago, Houston, Montreal, and now Columbus. Is there some new rule we don't know about that states any team with a desire to rebrand has to be worse than what they were changing from?
TORONTO FC, 2017 MLS CHAMPIONS!!! (Still the greatest in league history!)
MLS must be behind all of these - only explanation. I suspect Colorado and San Jose will be forced to rebrand in the next year. Wonder if they'll make an exception for the Galaxy because Galaxy
San Jose did one recently (except kept the name). Their new logo is kinda crap to be honest.
What about New England? Their logo has come full circle with me in that it's gone from horrible to now I would hate to see it go. But it's the oldest school of all the MLS logos at the moment.
Their new logo looks like the shoulder crest on an alternate NHL jersey.
The reasoning

The reasoning I kinda see
but the flag logo is just bad
And...the response of the Nordecke is official

^ That video, lol.
The voice over is about as edgy as PBS News Hour.
So Bez lied to them. #Bezout I guess.
Someone added the nib to every team logo as a joke. Here's ours:

Nah. this is corporate BS. the Crew exist because the supporters rallied the community to save the club, not because some angel stepped in. It is stupid timing, a stupid logo, and a stupid idea. "Columbus" was already in the name FFS . Also, they should have included supporters from inception. If there were good reasons, they would have come along.

I read through the twitter links and articles. WTF were the Crew doing? Non disclosures? To a couple of board members? No info to others? If it was the right thing to do there was no need for secrecy. It is just dumb. And arrogant.
And the poor guy with the tattoo. They better not rebrand TFC thats all I can say.

Bezza made his name at TFC so maybe there is part of him that still just wants to stick it to the crew and this was his way of doing it
