They might consider Ayo a lost cause in terms of sticking around, as they already have significant overseas interest. By earning his way up through the ranks Peruzza may have avoided the "wonderkid" sheen, but he's a really, really talented finisher. So maybe we keep him a little longer; I noticed mlssoccer.com pushing a "Dallas aims to be first selling team to win title" or something, so maybe the league as a whole is looking at these recent sales and we're going to see more and more youth in first teams.

Haven't been around in awhile but remembered TFC had some big signings to announce in two weeks some many months ago.

Thought i'd pop in to ask who they are as I'm getting excited for the new starting CB and AM/winger/striker management had eluded to.

As the mainstream footy media in Toronto has gone missing I was sure I could get the scoop on the big signings here.

Yep. Even KJ said it would be happening soon. I am guessing Palmeiras threw a wrench into things there.

I asked #TFCLive GM Ali Curtis about reports that the Reds may be after Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré. "Borre is a talented player" Curtis said, declining to add anything more to that. He certainly did not dismiss the reports out of hand #MLS MLS notebook upcoming

How did it take 3 months for a single journalist to ask this question straight up?

What good did it do him?

Curtis is not making a story out of this. He is not the type to add fuel to the fire.

I think it’s a fair question to ask. Independent opinions (or brave ones) are hard to find in these parts.

Anyone who does make criticisms of the team only does it through a third hand medium like a podcast with basically zero reach.

So much for an independent press...

I think the question is fair. I think it should be asked.

I just do not expect to get anything out of him.

Those of us sitting in pins and needles waiting for the press to get a story out of MLSE at this point is highly unlikely. If TFC wanted this to be a story they would be putting details in the press. TFC have no interest in making this a story. All they have to do is lock down any leaks then they control the narrative.

Every thing we get comes from the other side. If he had to travel to Argentina to negotiate we have something to ask him about. Since we can't track his zoom calls we have nothing to go on.

Okay, so it sounds like it’s basically done (famous last words) and all that’s left is to give River Plate some kind of small payment to save face rather than allow the player to leave for nothing.

If there is a fee in play then I’m assuming that he would be coming for the start of the season and not after the Argie season ends.

Word is Borre wanted them to get something rather than him go for free.

Which is probably part of the complication with his rights split between River and another team.

Not that I particular blame them but the club with the small ownership share probably has little incentive to act here.

Yeah. I believe Atletico Madrid owns 50% of Borré's rights until June. So basically we are negotiating a fee with both clubs. Borré wants to help his club out, which is noble, but complicated.

I'd say it's more that he sounds more like somebody who has a healthy respect for the River Barra Brava. You cross them at your peril.

Exactly this. This is athelete speak I want the fans to like me even though I'm acknowledging that I'm leaving. If River wanted a huge transfer fee they should have bought out the contract and extended the player. They didnt. Is Borré going to give up millions of dollars so that River can get a cut of his new pay day? Please.

According to a few tweets from South America, Sao Paulo is looking for help from investors to try and match the offer that Palmeiras made to Borre. https://twitter.com/SaoPaulo24horas/...57119387500544

There are also some rumors that Palmeiras has representatives in Argentina, met with Borre's representatives on Tuesday and are considering making an offer to River for his immediate release. https://twitter.com/alvaroangelofut/...61401590415366

    TFC's offseason in a tweet.

I'm starting to miss the days when we had fun supporting the worst team in the world.

5 weeks from now, our first game of the season will be done.

Something KJ said in an obscure pod he did this week struck me - something along the lines of this team focusing on trophies but going to have problems during the season.

Part of me wonders if we as fans are still focused on the 2020 TFC lens because that's our only terms of reference

The 2020 team was good & relatively successful with the best player in the league pulling the strings. It was deliberate (slow) and experienced (getting old).

Now we have a new coach but we haven't seen this team try this new fangled approach and we havn't had anybody come in yet to represent the new approach. We just have no clue what the heck is going on and that is...annoying.

I think the way to bet it is that we will suck. Same as the Raps. It’s a huge disadvantage to operate out of Florida. Even before you factor in new coach, new system, aging stars etc

We need to enjoy the team and look for rewards that don’t involve trophies this year.
