Good assessment of the current situation

^There are a lot of these sort of intellectual takes that say "now that we have spent and won championships, and become a big club, TFC players are in the shop window".
It's a total misdiagnosis.
Davies was in Vancouver. Adams was NYRB. Aaronson in Philly. Reynolds and Cannon in Dallas. On and on.
Not one of these guys transferring out is from TFC, Seattle, Atlanta, LAG... the fact is, we don't give the playing time to young guys, so they have no chance of attracting attention, so they don't sign here.
Success in the league competitively comes from spending. Success in this league financially comes from developing and playing players. No point getting confused about this. I don't want to be a club focused on selling players, sorry.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
I'd suggest VCWC developing Davies is a stretch - they found him in their catchment area and were smart enough to sign him. NYRB, Philly & Dallas play their yutes - VCWC don't have that much cohesive thought or identity.
TFC, competitively or financially sound, still have to deal Jozy (maybe even Gonzales) and replace him (them) with younger, but developed players.
Aren't the two weeks over already?
This is exactly true. This team has been one of the best in the league on the whole since 2016. How many players have we sold to teams that aren’t in Asian oil country? How many rumours have we heard? Oso for a summer, the occasional Jozy bullshit, and now Ayo is all that comes to mind.
(I still think playing in Toronto doesn’t help players get attention however. How we’ve not got a multi-million dollar Laryea bid is beyond me tbh.)

Hard to say for sure but my bet is if you give that guy a sniff at a better opportunity he will jump on it.
After being thrown in the bin by Orlando and nearly having his career destroyed to signing a minimal deal with TFC and working his way up... I doubt he is too sentimental. He’s also 26. This is prime-time to get a good contract.
Wouldn’t blame him at the end of the day.
Smart TFC would let him go in the summer, not now. Probably get more money.
dum de dum. zzzzzzz
This is absolutely the worst off-season ever.
I feel like our cap situation must be dead tight after the DP money.
i think its the jozy situation, maybe they have resolve that first, wheeler mentioned that jozy is making significantly less money on the backend of his contract
I never expected much this offseason. We have 28 players under contract (including Rocco Romeo who is on loan until June 30). We can have up to 31 contracts (provided 1 is on loan for the full season). So we had limited space without even considering the cap situation.
Last year we had 32, but we did the full season loan with Romeo and I believe we used the Season Ending Injury replacement rule to sign Priso (to replace Achara)

Fair enough. But we need a mobile CB to replace Ciman’s role and a striker (or a fit and healthy Jozy). We might need to lose a midfielder or two to make the roster work.
I vote for discarding Liam Fraser.
