The obvious but probably too expensive option (to me) remains Pavon. Young, proven in MLS, and can play centrally or out wide.

I agree but that would be such a great investment in the future though. I wouldn’t have any expectations of a big replacement for Altidore or Bradley thereafter.
If he’s a guy personality wise that fits with Poz I would empty the bank account to make it happen.
But I would concur that I’m probably dreaming
i think vanney didnt want to spend another year on the road,he mentioned that like 100 times last season
Vanney was talked to before he officially left - LAG indicated they had to get permission to start discussions.
I suspect that was between the loss in the playoffs and the announcement.
However, I agree that Vanney probably had it in his head by the end of October that leaving may not be a bad idea.
I believe TFC presented him an offer in June(?) and he never signed it so he was weighing his options at that point. By summer it was pretty clear the Gals job was going to be available at season's end and I think that's why Vanney held off signing. He wanted that job and was hoping it would become available and at that time they'd want him and not some big marketing name like usual.
I think realistically at that point he more than knew he was out. The rest was just optics.
If you leave a contract offer open for months which you otherwise agreed to the terms of the implicit message is “I’m not coming back”
I’m not going to judge him for gunning for the shield vs. putting more weight on the playoffs. To me that was not the right call but sometimes you weight the probabilities and figure out what your best chance is

Very (too) quiet today on Superdraft day!
Too few picks: # 18, 36, & 72.
But wait...there is the funny $ and then there are international spots - so maybe that results in more bodies.
Anything else we do not know about?
Shway wrote this on here after the draft last year
TFC draft picks from the past 5 years:
2015: Alex Bono , Clement Simonin (US Bretons de Paris), Skylar Thomas (Valour FC), Wesley Charpie (Memphis 901), Edwin Rivas (Las Vegas Lights), Mike Ramos (Tacoma Stars), Sal Bernal (Unattached since TFC II), Tyler Engel (without club, never played pro)
2016: Tsubasa Endoh , Mitch Taintor (Sacrament Republic), Darius Maddison (North Greenlong Warriors), Brian James (Miami FC)
2017: Brandon Aubrey (retired) , Robert Moewes (unattached) , Øyvind Alseth (Ranheim NL) , Lars Eckenrode (South Georgia Tormenta), Juan Pablo Saaverdra (Virginia United)
2018: Tim Kubel (career break) , Drew Sheppard (Unattached since TFC II), Andre Morrison (unknown) , Ben White (unknown)
2019: Griffin Dorsey (TFC II) , Adamn Wilson (unattached) , Patrick Bunk-Andersen, (TFCII)
Notes:
-24 drafted
- 3 have played for the first team (Tsbusa Endoh, Dorsey got minutes in CCL play)
I wouldn’t have too much hope in picking up anyone useful in the draft at #18. Rollins write up today did not paint a very promising picture. The draft is seeming more and more irrelevant each year. I think it’s time to end it and allow players to sign with whoever wants to sign them.
I agree. Either end it or just make it a one round affair.
I remember we used to have debates about who would go number one and who TFC should pick. Like any of us actually knew or had seen any of the players actually play. Lol.
Anyways, I'm only really following this to get a handle on how other team's management are thinking.
The draft is never going to get you a Neymar. Football is just way too global and widespread for MLS draft to have the same impact a NHL or NFL draft will have on a team. It's still a useful avenue to find hidden gems, depth and provide college players an avenue to the pros.
Think of the draft less of a chance at a generational talent, and more of a means of strengthening your roster cheaply.
Figures Curtis used the timeout for an extra 2 minutes.
Traded down & got 50K in GAM
