On another note:
Atlanta imploding playing Cinci and losing after down to 10 within 26 minutes and then another straight red in extra time.
****
So if playing in the 9AM games is so brutal on teams and pretty much every team is reporting that it is, is it fair that TFC has to play 9AM games twice in the group stage especially with the cramping and heat related issues we just had essentially causing us to tie the game versus win? New England and DC United only need to play one 9AM game and both are against TFC. Montreal doesn't have to play any 9AM games. It just makes TFC's group stage that much harder. Looking at the schedule only Chicago and NYCFC have two 9AM games like TFC. All other teams are let off easier.

Its not the Ontario people I'm worried about its all the people coming up from Florida & other US parts
+
the Jays going in and out of various cities including Florida.
Jays can isolate at the Dome - that might actually work.
TFC going to isolate incoming teams where? Hotel X?

Since the 3rd group stage games will not be simultaneous and it's a fixed bracket, I wonder if we will get any blatant gamesmanship happening assuming there is value of finishing 2nd vs 1st in a group. Could you imagine if guys start deliberately scoring on themselves like in that infamous match fixing case?
Watching Houston vs Portland & Houston looking more & more like the team we might face in the round of 16.
Not as pace packed a team as they used to be but still faster then Gonzalez or Ciman or Zavs. Midfield is a bit of a mess. Another "we don't need no stinking defence" sort of game if we get there.
Revenge for the game against the kids back in 2018.
When complaining about Zavs and Ciman just take a look at LAGs Steres on the 2nd LAFC goal tonight. It could be worse....
So things settled down a bit after last night as to whom we are likely to play but the opponents for the next round are still unclear
We can fiinish
3rd
a loss & DCU win
or 2nd
a draw & DCU wins by more then 2 goals
or
a loss & a draw between DCU & Impact
or
a loss & Impact win
or 1st
A draw & an Impact win
A win
********************
Lets look at the 3 scenarios
Finishing 3rd
First of all, we are not completely guaranteed a spot in the round of 16 but its darn close. In essence, even if other things don't go our way, we just have to not lose by more then 3 goals.
If we finish 3rd in the group, we would then be up against the 3rd place teams in the other groups. We have to finish better then 2 other teams finishing 3rd.
Group A - can't catch us as the bottom 2 both have 0 points.
So that means we only need 1 other Group 3rd place team to be less then us on points or with goal difference
Group B - two games left for Chicago & Vancouver complicates this - too many scenarios but we will know a bit more tonight after Seattle & San Jose play their 3rd gams
Group D - very likely one of those teams goes through as 3rd place as 2 teams are on 4 and 1 on 3. What would be nice is if Colorado wins & RSL wins
Group E - NYRB & Cinci play each other to see who goes through - only way they both get 4 points is if they draw, we would have to lose by more then 4 goals for Cinci to beat us.
Group F - If Houston wins by 1 more goal then we lose, they would beat us. The only other unlikely scenario for us to finish above the 3rd place team here is for Portland to thrash LAFC by more then 4+ in Goal difference then we lose to NER.
**********
So, now the possible opponents
If we finish 3rd, our opponents would be either the winner of Group A (Orlando or Philly) or the winner of Group B (San Jose or Chicago or Seattle )
If we finish second , we would play the second placed team in group A (Orlando or Philly)
If we finish 1st, we would play the 3rd placed team in A, B or F (Inter or NYC or any team in B or Houston or LAG or (unlikely) LAFC )
By Tuesday morning kickoff, we will know a lot more about what will happen if/when we go through.

Diego Rossi scored 4 goals last night, tying him with Ayo for the Golden boot lead
Rossi is one goal ahead of Ayo now with six.

Just tried to watch SJE v Chicago
I lasted 4 minutes
Some of the games are vaguely interesting for about 20 minutes but nothing is sustained. The quality is so lacking due to the time off and teams not really getting into form yet before Covid. I've seen indications that the ratings are up so ESPN must be happy. But this is an exercise in watching individual qualities more then decent team play. Apart from us & LAFC, nobody has been any good.
Hopefully, once the chaff gets seperated, the final 16 will provide better football.
Hmm...Seattle's win sets up that if we win this group, we are likely to play them in the next round (assuming Chicago beats the Fire)
Yes, but the other night showed that the resources are set up to have two games at once. No reason not to have had the Toronto match pushed to tomorrow night, other than tv perhaps. The only advantage I see is that NE has yet to play in the morning. I expect Toronto to have a fast start.
So Miami has crashed out, now when is their next game MLS??
We have a question and apologize if answered on another post.
Teams have another sponsor on the kit sleeve.
For TFC it is "G E Appliances".
Is this just for this MLS is Back Tournament?
Thanks,
J&M
