Cheap, serviceable US domestics are the must-haves of MLS. Until three years ago we didn’t have them (or gave them away).
The problem with Canadians is that they only count as domestics for 3 MLS teams. So any team, even a Canadian team, that is given a 50/50 choice between a young Canadian or a young American, will develop the American, who can be a domestic for a US team (and therefore ultimately has potential trade value the young Canadian won’t). The American is just worth more, because he's a potential asset for more teams.
I do think this is a problem for Hamilton and others, but blaming Vanney (or Spencer) for it is not fair.
Funny thing is, Raheem was so good that it didn’t matter, but he was the exception, not the rule. His value to Montreal was much higher than it was to LAFC.
Most decent young Canadians cannot get a game in MLS.
Like I said, this is the core CPL argument.

Holy shit I feel sorry for him.
Seriously, #freeraheem needs to become a thing.
Let's get him back.

Who is Terique Mohammed. He's listed on the camp roaster as a TFC player and not a trialist or draft pick or TFC II. When did they sign him?
The roster list on the site no longer refers to Terique as an academy player and instead as a TFC player.
Would be surprised if they signed him before preseason...... Probably signed to TFC II
Ben Spencer re-signed.

Road Games:
2013 - Montréal , 2014 - Orlando (Disney Classic), Montréal
2015 - Columbus, New England, Montréal
2016 - NYCFC (Leg 2 Conference Semis), Montréal (Leg 1 Conference Final)
2017 - Ottawa (Leg 1 Canadian Championship Semi), DCU, Red Bulls (Leg 1 Conference Final), Columbus (Leg 2 Conference Final)
2019 - Montréal, NYCFC (Eastern Conference Semi @ Citi Field), Seattle (MLS Cup Final)
would not be shocked.they really lack left sided players and with the morgan injuries the last 2 years.who knows or maybe its jus a typo.
So a supplemental roster spot (#21-24) goes to a project most of us don't rate who will spend more time at TFCII then on the 18. Meh... he's getting minimum...not going to worry too much about this signing.
He's competing with Hamilton. Gotta year to prove themselves. Lets see how they do during the Voyageurs.
Tired of the Spencer hate as well when he's still young and doesn't have a lot of matches under him. Vanney and Bez obviously saw a lot from him during the US U20s and RSL.
And for the mentions that Spencer never proved himself in USL: Neither has JayHams and he's had plenty of games.
Bez on a conference call with journos today

Sounds like signing van der wiel may depend on whether his current team can land a replacement rb
