The pass to Defoe was sweet, perfectly weighted, too. The flick to DeRo was even better and would have been a hell of a nice goal.

Toronto FC baby...best team everrrrrrrrrr -Jozy
He did the same flick against MTL on wed for DeRo shot from the edge of the 18, or am I imagining things?
He seems very intelligent and technically proficient. If he keeps getting assists like this every game I won't complain.
Absolutely agree that Gilberto's playmaking abilities are wasted playing up front in a conventional 4-4-2. He is also far too skilled to be a bench player on our squad. Either play him in the hole in a 4-3-1-2, or behind Defoe in a 4-4-1-1.
He clearly has much more to give if he is utilized properly moving forward.
I agree with the 4-3-1-2.
Blood-Haggy-Caldwell-Morrow
Oso-Bradley-Warner
Gilberto
Defoe-Moore
Its too bad Oso is the one that looks like the weak link in that XI.

^It won't happen but that's the perfect formation for us right now. I'd put Orr in over Warner though.
Joao Plata - Games Played: 9; Goals Scored: 6;
Maximiliano Urutti - Games Played: 13; Goals Scored: 6;
Quincy Amarikwa Games Played: 11; Goals Scored: 5;
Chad Barrett: Games Played: 9; Goals Scored: 3;
History seems to be indicating that maybe Gilberto needs to go play somewhere else in order to find his scoring touch.
He is for Chicago. Either he's found a place where all the pieces click for him or for some reason he's come out of his shell. I can't say if he were to be traded whether he could continue the way he is. Of course you can say the same thing about Gilberto. Would he be able to thrive someplace where he isn't always under the microscope (besides Brazil)?

Quincy Amarikwa could score another 10 and I still wouldn't want him. Good for him that he's become productive... gotta say I never saw that one coming.
Why? He worked really hard for us, has great wheels and he's a great athlete. If he'd have been playing for Carl Robinson for the last two years (ala Hurtado) he'd probably be a prolific finisher, too.
Until this year at Chicago he's been mostly used as a winger or wide forward. He's never really had a chance to play up top before. Having said that, he's no clinical striker; but he's a good role-playing forward who fights and works hard. I'd take him.
(If anyone has access to the old board, I suggested we sign Ricky Lambert back in 2007, before anyone in England thought he was worth much. Ho hum.)
I actually made the same suggestion some years ago when he was still playing for Bristol Rovers. I've actually been to a couple of Rovers games when he was with them. They're my family's local club. He would have been dynamite in Toronto, but I'm also happy for his success.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
Amarikwa is a poor example...he wanted $100k+ apparently and then ended up signing with Chicago on league minimum
I agree with those who are saying that Gilberto is creating chances and a more effective attacking presense. He might not be scoring, but whatever he's doing it's the difference that changed a 2-1 defeat into a 3-2 win, or he's at least a major part of it. Henry got the winner but it really should have been DeRo off of that flick, which would have been two goals directly attributed to Gilberto's assist.
