Only printed jersey I have is Dunny, will be wearing it on Saturday in DC.
I hope the spot he frees up was worth it.
AGAIN : waiving a player does not get you their cap hit back.
People following this team much longer than me should know this by now.
I sport my Dunfield 23 with pride every game day. Sad day for me. What he lacked in skill he complimented with heart and spirit. But the writing was on the wall - especially considering he couldn't even get into the reserve game last week. Good luck Terry.
Voyageurs forum has rumours of him becoming a coach with TFC.
I hope is able to regain match fitness and catch on with another team.
The look of pure joy after he scored against Vancouver in stoppage time.
Combine dunfield's heart with some actual skill and you get unstoppable players
Not sure I like this move. Dunfield is a player that can be relied upon when needed and brings veteran leadership in the locker room. I wish him well.
I don't know if you're right on this. From the roster rules:
(A) WAIVERS
Teams may waive players based on performance at any time during the MLS season. Players with guaranteed contracts will continue to have their salary budget charge applied to the team salary budget, subject to any settlement. Players on semi-guaranteed contracts can be waived prior to July 1 of any year and free up the corresponding budget space. If a player on a semi-guaranteed contract is waived after July 1, his salary budget charge will count against the team’s salary budget and the team waiving the player will not receive a replacement except under the normal player acquisition mechanisms. Any settlement amount will be charged to the team’s salary budget.
Good luck Terry, I did like your grinding, tenacity, teams really do need players like that.
Coach Dunfield could get a 2stik in future...
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
He tried real hard. And when he scored, it was like watching a kid at Christmas.
(I edited out a less then appreciative comment)

Terry Dunfield Appreciation Thread guys...
Always loved your hardworking attitude and commitment to the team you are playing for Terry. Best of luck.
I bash your on/off ball decisions from time to time, yet I've never bashed your passion and the ability to disrupt opponent's flow. I wish you can still be part of TFC to be the specialist in situations to break up plays and add a spark here and there.
All the best.
I heard that he was going to retire due to injury. Not the most skilled, but always played with heart. His effort will be missed.
I was not much of a fan of what he brought to the team, but I have to say after some time I saw that he played a useful role. And what we can't deny is that he was passionate about the team and wanted to do well for it. Definitely one of the more hardworking players to don the strip.
I can't see why we would waive him if we didn't get the cap space back. As a domestic, there is nothing else to be gained (unless we are up against total number of players on the roster or something)
Aww. Going to miss Terry. A true player. Gave his heart for the team. I'll miss him.
Bon Voyage, Terry. We'll always have that memory of your Goal vs Vancouver. Eventually that's probably what you'll be fondly remembered for.
Terry you will be missed. Didn't have too much skill, but made up for it with heart and fight. Good luck to you wherever you end up.
In what was an absolute dismal year (2012) I saw you as the one who did not quit on the team or a game. That is character and leadership. I wish you the best.
Terry always left everything on the pitch for this club, and I will remember him for his unquestionable work ethic as opposed to being miscast as a starter.
many know my feelings towards the guy, i thought he took a lot of flack for still being considered one of "mariners guys", but he gave it all everytime he stepped on the pitch.. even if the result wasn't always what we wanted. he would consistently be one of the guys on the field who would give it all each game, and we've gone through too many players not to appreciate that kind of work ethic.
good luck to him wherever he lands.
Dear Terry: Later dude, it's been real!
This is sad, I was looking forward to seeing him on the pitch again for the reds and now he's waived.
For a club that has seen a revolving door of personnel, of which many left only an impression of indifference, Terri’s passion for the crest was something I appreciated. I never felt cheated by his effort and have no doubt he gave us his all. His play last year was one of the few positive memories of the Mariner era. Very personable guy who had plenty of time to chat with fans at TFC functions. Also appreciate his dedication to the National team, definitely not a Canadian of convenience…if only all players who wore red had his heart…
Thanks Terry and best of luck going forward!
Good luck to Terry, I'm sure he will pick up a new club somewhere quickly.
All The Best Terry!
Yohan said it best . . . that goal vs the Whitecraps in stoppage time . . . PRICELESS!
