im thinking Russel is only a temp,if they were high on him why wouldnt they start him yesterday(was he on the bench)whats going on with Bostock?
Taylor Morgan is also an international player. I can see him getting release in the summer to make room for new signings.
I think the most likely player to get cut is T Morgan (unless he has a green card). If we're looking to bring in an Argentinian DP striker, it makes sense to get rid of the player who is both an international and the worst of the strikers. Can Eckersley be cut without having to buy out part of his contract?
When is Ecks contract done?
I wouldn't spend any energy on figuring out the slots.
It's going to be a revolving door around here this year.

I see Ryan Johnson missed two decent chances at a late winner for Portland against NYRB. What else is new?
Plata meanwhile with a wonderful assist for RSL's first against San Jose. Just watch this be his breakout year...
^Yeah, was thinking the same thing last night after that assist - watch him be the latest player to really turn it on after leaving TFC. And were it not for Johnson's two misses at a game-winning goal, we might be talking about him as well.
That overhead kick was vintage Johnson. Look really good, miss just enough to make the home fans groan and the away team glad it was him.
You know what I would chalk up last year to?
HIM NOT FREAKING PLAYING!!!
Did he even break 150-200 mins?
Short Pants didn't even put him on the bench as a sub!
I misguidedly asked that Mariner be given some time but in retrospect that amount of damage he did to the club is unbelievable.
Did he do ANYTHING good other than O'Dea?
I'm not sure if Payne had any other choice when he took over (ie. if Plata had requested a move), but we'll regret letting Plata go. I was a huge advocate of keeping him as a late game sub here.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
The problem is, how long do you think Plata will be content with this role?
I've always thought he was best in that role. He can't handle a full 90, as he would disappear for long stretches.
But it seemed like he saw himself as more than a come-off-the-bench player, and wasn't particularily happy with that role.
Maybe I'm wrong, but unless he begins to get in the starting XI, I could still see him running off home again.
Plata is probably happier in Salt Lake for a whole bunch of reasons:
- it's a stable setup
- they have a whole bunch of players he can learn something from
- they have a number of Spanish speaking players
- it's a city with a significant hispanic population (I think around 25%)
- it's a championship contender
Of course he'd be happy to be a sub there, vs here

Overrated player after a handful of decent performances. They benched him here because he'd become a one trick pony. I've watched him twice with RSL, and in both games he ignored his defensive responsibilities completely. He's too small to play wing regularly without the accompanying speed required to use his small center of gravity in all parts of the pitch, is pushed off the ball easily and has a higher opinion of his own skills, from the way he plays, than he should have.
He won't become a starter there and international slots arent' usually used for roleplayers. There was a reason his home team didn't want him.
Time heals all wounds, I guess. You guys forget how anonymous Plata was here during almost every game, and not because of tactical decisions but because every defender in the league figured out how to stop him in very short order (pun not intended). They've been away during the offseason, so perhaps Plata has learned an additional move or two, but he's no great player and we shouldn't be sad about his departure.
