He was very light on the cards during the TFC game, I was expecting worse.

Suggested chant, accompanied by giant red cards: "Eric the Red, he always shits the bed."

Always shits the bed? he has 3 goals and looks better than any striker we've ever had.

supporters chants don't have to be rooted in fact. quite the opposite.

Not sure that chant would have the desired effect on Hassli. He doesn't understand English and with his ejections, suspensions, etc, there's a 50/50 chance he won't even be on the pitch to hear it anyways.

Hassli should have stuck with a PK + Backflip combo

I don't get the love in from so many people over the Whitecaps. They aren't very good, have these people been fooled? They were really lucky to be up 1-0 for so long the other night, mostly becuase NE is just as bad. It was an entertaining match but that doesn't mean well played.

Anyways, predictably they blew the win (sound familiar?) and as I said before as the games now start to pile on this club will take its spot at the bottom of the table.

    * Winning their first game in the MLS 4-2.
    * Coming back from a 3 goal deficit. (2 goals in injury time)
    * Managing a tie in a game where they were 2 men down at one point. (almost won the game)
    * Losing 1-0 away from home (a man down) to what seems to be a very good team this year.

Give me a break. TFC could only dream of pulling off shit like that. That's fine if you won't admit they are good, you still have to admit their miles ahead of TFC.

There are always the jealous ones who can't stand another expansion team do well. And the fact that some supporters congratulate them for it pisses these people off even more. The exact same conversations were going on with Seattle when they came into the league. It's no shocker it's the usual suspects with this attitude.

They have had some dramatic games, that's for sure.

But I don't think going 3 goals down in the first place is a good thing. I don't think losing 2 points at the end of a game is a good thing (TFC fans know a lot about losing points in the final minutes).
Of course, both games were at home. Two ties at home isn't that great. Just this week we tied at home against Chivas and that concerned people greatly.

Just tempering the enthusiasm of Vancouver fans a bit.

The question is whether or not this is the best for Vancouver. All teams have good runs, good periods. The key to making the playoffs is consistency, avoiding injuries, making your home a fortress, and grabbing some points on the road.

It's not that I like the Whitecaps or even want them to do well necessarily. But every success they have, in my opinion, is a further indictment of our clueless FO (I'm not including Winter/Mariner in here, of course). If they make the playoffs before we do (which I'm almost tempted to say is a given) maybe we'll see a broom come along to sweep away the rest of the FO (Anselmi et al).

No, I don't like the Shitecaps, but based on what I've seen so far, their organization certainly knows what its doing. They won't still be floundering after their fifth year.

Two ties and a WIN at home.

If this was TFC, you'd be raving about how much heart this team has. If TFC ties their next game we'll have the same home record, and you'll rave about how we are undefeated at home. It's very easy to spin shit. All I know is I've seen them play and they play with alot of heart and they seem pretty well organized to me. Albeit they have their moments where they collapse as can be expected from any expansion team.

At the end of the day, for an expasion team, they've overachieved and had some magical moments.

Actually, if TFC went down 3-0 and came back to tie, I don't think anyone would be talking about heart. They'd be saying "Damnit Aron Winter, why haven't you fixed the defense yet -- you had all pre-season to fix this?" or "Shit, I can't believe we let that bastard Bunbury score 2 goals on us" or whatever.

And if we tied a home game in the final minutes like Vancouver did against KC, you'd hear the complaints: "Damnit, this is like 2009 under Carver and Cummins, when we always lost games in the final 15 minutes! Will nothing change?"

My point is that perception makes people judge similar results in different ways.

Vancouver has no baggage. It's like when TFC tied the final game of 2007 thanks to Dichio's goal. It was a 2-2 tie. But then people swarmed the field like a championship.

Vancouver is in that headspace right now. but it's only 4 games. i';ve heard people talk about how awesome Hassli is and how he'll rip this league apart. I also remember back when people said Montero would score 20 goals in this league.

Things I admire about the Whitecaps:
    - Off the ball movement
    - Play balls into spaces vacated by defenders pressuring on the backs of mids
    - Attack in numbers
    - Have fluid build-up play which ultimately generates good scoring chances
    - Solid veteran defenders who can make lengthy passes on the deck (eg. Rochat)
    - Creativity in the side (Sanvezzo, Chiumiento)
    - energy and urgency on the ball
    - Have players who can bang in goals (Hassli, Harris)

Things I dislike about the Whitecaps:
    - Prone to lapses in defensive marking
    - Naive in many aspects
    - Undisciplined play (from certain indivduals)
    - High tempo game creates gaps for other teams to exploit
    - mental weakness giving up late goals

I don't see what the problem is.

I watch their games and I am entertained, which is a lot more than I can say about TFC tbh.

    Is that ok?

yup, and it's too bad we didn't have an established organization that could play a season in the USL in 2006 to try out players before deciding on signing them to MLS. We woulda figured out in 2006 that Reda, Braz etc were useless.

Personally I don't like comparing teams that came into the league 5 years apart. Totally different conditions.

I'm also not going to be happy for Vancouver when they succeed. Impossible to do that when I'm a TFC fan.

And his frequent guest band would be Yellowcard.

I think the 1 million $ transfer fee FC DAllas paid for this 18 year old Castillo kid is going to be an interesting story ...... that was a perfect pass he delivered to Ferreira to make it 2-0

It's about time that Dallas started showing off what got them to the final last year. They owned that half.

Dallas is really playing well tonight. Everyone is making solid runs, attacking space and the crosses just keep coming. Looks as if they have finally found their form. Playing with 11 men for a change probably isn't hurting their cause either but......

    I'm enjoying this match!

Default Former red J. Nane starts for the Rapids.

Haha the boy starts in center mid and the rapids lose (well...most likely as it's 3-0 to FC Dallas) their first match of the year.

What did we get for his trade again? 2nd round pick?
