I like Barrett but I was kinda hoping he would get picked because he gets paid a lot and is always injured.

So O'Brian White is going to be the next Casey and Buddle?
John Thorrington (CHI) to van city
Geez, can't please anyone.
You mean a link like this

?
The Timbers have already begun building their team with the signings of USSF D-2 standouts Ryan Pore Eddie Johnson and Bright Dike lol
sooooo portland loaded up on defenders and vancouver on forwards....interesting enough
gotta say im worried about OBW turning out like that too but i suspect he wont
Front page of the TFC site. O'Brian off to Portland! lol fail
all info and player profiles is up on the front page.
interesting draft, portland killed the first half and tanked the second
roles were reverse with whitecaps who sucked at their first five and nailed their next.
I don't get portland taking bornstein at all
They're anticipating Bornstein won't be technically up to the Mexican game and will be back in a year or two. They'll have his rights at that point.
As for Vancouver, I think they're nuts. Unless he refuses to move, you take Blaise N'Kufo if you have the chance. He'll score 15 next year easily.
Instead, right now they've got three leadfooted strikers: Atiba Harris, Alan Gordon and O'Brian White.
Must have some BIIIIIG plans for those DP slots.
Like everyone, I'm glad White is gone because at almost 25, I'm not sure how he can be developed any further and he's quite ghastly to watch.
But the added bonus is that, with one less striker, it forces management to look even more at signing strikers (who I would think turn out better than White) rather than do nothing to improve the front line on the basis that "we have enough strikers". It places more urgency on finding some guys. To me that's the real win today.
So White gone, Mista probably gonna leave. Hopefully will see a decent striker here.
To those asking why JDG got pulled back after White got taken, prob because we can't afford to lose 2 Canadians. In the next few years theres going to be a real drain on Canadian talent, even with the new quotas. I'm happier losing a useless White than an overpaid JDG. JDG at least is a good player.
i wonder how they broke the news to barrett that he was being left unprotected. i fully thought he was going to be picked up, but ouch, that's gotta be a shot to the ego..
It's possible... but those two actually scored somewhere legitimate before they got to TFC... At least casey had 14 goals in 30 games for a team in germany, and Buddle had scored a lot before.
White's claim to fame is his second last college year.
But if Wondolowski can be a nobody with Houston and then be a league leading scorer with San Jose, perhaps it's about the way the player is used.
His salary was too much to get selected. I said before the draft that we wouldn't lose anyone unless Vancouver felt like they needed to add a Canadian to their team. I thought they'd take Gala because of his salary, but I guess they figure the extra money spent on White is worth it.
Wow @ Barrett not getting picked.
Looking at the two selections, I think I like Portlands better. Especially if they are able to keep Robbie Findley for a season or two. Mcarty, Alvarez, moffat and wallace should be good additions and starters.
VC did well in getting in Nyassi, a wide player Id like to see in a TFC shirt. Moreno and Cannon I think will help them a lot next season too. Cannon and Nyassi could be their best selections. Thankfully I wont have to watch OBW anymore. Im not sure which skill set he is going to develop, but with Nyassi maybe he will get more space to operate in slow motion.
findley and bornstein are lottery picks at the moment, if they come back then portland is looking pretty good. if they aren't coming back, then vancouver wins the day. also interesting that vancouver took three MLS starters on their first picks.
I thought Nyassi would get away with being picked, being an international player and all. Looks like Vancouver had other ideas.
I'm actually shocked that Vancouver has taken OBW. If he's Jamaican now, won't he also count as international, or does he still count as a Canadian and therefore a domestic?
Oh, James...White has permanent resident status, and is legally entitled to work in Canada - that is the definition of domestic status in MLS.
