Better than the old one, nowhere near as good as it should have been.
Van fans from Big Soccer:
"Sorry, I really don't like this. I'm trying my best but I'd be lying. This was the time to really come out with a good brand and they didn't pull it off in my opinion. A standard shield or circular logo would have been much better. Alas, it is what it is though and at least the name stayed."
"ok. a few things.
A. it looks waaaaaay better when the dark blue colour is part of the logo, ie on a white background, and not lost by being on an identically coloured dark blue background.
B. the font is a very clean and crisp look. a vast improvement over the current font.
C. if you are going to "change" the whitecaps iconography from "waves" to "mountains" (both of which apply to the term "whitecaps") then you HAVE to put an actual white cap on at least the central mountain. i mean that is just basic. not too much but perhaps an cm down solid white to the tip. just the central mountain.
D. i still think that part of the issue is that the exact symetry of the "reflection" throws the thing off a bit and makes it look "boring". not sure what could have been done. the more you see the bottom is light blue the better it makes it. perhaps the bottom colour needed to be a bit "brighter" to stand out more. still light/sky blue but perhaps a bit more vibrant or vivid or rich.
E. if they can tie in an argyle pattern to their unis and other gear, like celtic being known for their hoops or czech republic being known for their chequerboard pattern this might make the whole thing better. "
"I actually like it.
It is different, and stands out from the rest of the league's badges/crests. It takes on a shape/pattern not already done. The slight palatte change is much better in my opinion."
"I think the interlocking diamonds look is a neat idea, and the font is good. The colours are good, and most importantly they kept the name.
I guess I am disappointed they didn't go either darker or lighter with the main blue, and that the logo is not shield style, and that the logo is quite dull. Just a bit more punch would have been nice, but again, interlocking diamonds is neat iconography.
My buddy Rob was walking by my dorm so I had him look at it (he knows nothing about the Whitecaps or soccer) and he thought it looked great. So I guess if it appeals to non-soccer fans, that's helpful.
Two big plusses:
1. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE!
2. IT IS VERY UNIQUE and will help the Caps make an international brand. "
I like it.
But I'm suddenly craving a Volkswagon.
The new BC Place stadium will be our home starting in summer 2011, as soon as all renovations and installation of the retractable roof are complete.
With the completed renovations, BC Place will allow our fans to experience soccer the way it was meant to be experienced - in an intimate atmosphere, with seating close to the pitch, and an open-air roof for balmy summer nights.
Seating capacity for soccer matches will be approximately 20,000. http://www.vancouvermls2011.com/facilities/stadia.aspx
I love it... BC place ... an intimate setting?? the place holds like 60,000 ...
I Kind of like it.
Mountains, water, forming the 3 diamonds...simple...
TFC hit a homerun with their logo.
But this isn't bad.
Terrible logo.. Better than that Edmonton team but regardless. Should've just kept their old one. There is deceptively simple and then there is just being lazy.

Meh - I supposed I'd dig it if I were a Caps supporter. But I'm not, so I'm just indifferent.
I will admit it is way better than Edmonton's logo.
The more I look at it the more i;m liking it. I initially thought it was horrible butnow i like the simplicity, the colours and the diamond shape.
I think it's nice. Still like the TFC one better, but it's simple and looks good.
Not the best logo, but it's good enough to be consider average. This logo does a good job reflecting city of Vancouver.
It's a moderate improvement over the existing logo but disappointing nonetheless. If it was somehow incorporated into a shield of some sort it would be much nicer...
No question it's better than that lame Edmonton crest.
I gotta say, I think I like Vancouver's new logo quite a lot.
It's slick, bold, and represents the city well.
And thank god they didn't hire the same crappy designer from Edmonton!
Otherwise it would be full of embossing and drop shadows!
I like it
Jesus edmonton made no effort to conceal the fact that they ripped us off huh
Now... here's a great logo:
from an online FM-type game.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
i'm not gonna lie, i'm still out to lunch on this.
it's crisp and clean, simple too (which is the best thing a logo or crest can be) but something's just not sitting right.
do it up proper argyle, that's what im expecting i think..
more
less
Paul B's take on twitter:
I like the Whitecaps logo...clean, neat, layered...nice.
