It was probably the hardest lecture Kyle Hall ever had to sit through.
And it had nothing to do with the content.
On Jan. 15, Hall was on his way to Strategic Human Resource Management class at Syracuse University when he heard his phone ringing.
“I got a call from my agent telling me I had been drafted by Toronto FC in the third round (39th overall in the Major League Soccer Superdraft),” said Hall via email from Syracuse. “It was hard afterwards to sit through the class and listen to the lecture.
“After, I received confirmation from my girlfriend … and from my coach Jaro (Zawislan),” the Don Mills Collegiate alumnus added. “To receive these messages kind of clarified with me that I wasn’t dreaming.”
In his third year at Syracuse, Hall said he was a bit shocked to be selected. But considering the striker scored 13 goals in 51 games for the Orange and was named to the 2008 All Big East Second Team, it shouldn’t have been a surprise at all.
