Yes, the Western Conference title comment was meant to be funny and yes, this is the same Under-17 team that Kansas City thrashed 7-0 last weekend.

You read that right - the New York Red Bulls lost a pre-season scrimmage to a bunch of little teenagers. This thread had better be at least three pages filled with people laughing at them, or I officially declare you all to be losing your edge.

EDIT: I read some of the comments, and was reminded that not only was this the U-17 team, but the U-17 starters are in South America right now, meaning they lost to the US U-17 B-TEAM. Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!

It's hard for me to laugh when they made the finals and we couldn't even cut it for the playoffs.

I'll reserve my condescension for when we can actually win. Until then i'll just stick to making fun of other teams SGs.

Agreed, FFS we lost 4-0 to a USL team after our season had finished... when we're supposed to be in fine form...

Besides, how can you get motivated to play against a bunch of 16 year olds? It's like a training ground session where your coach, fitness trainer and manager have all left for the day.

I think you guys need to take into consideration that the Redbulls have been in existence (as Metros) since 1993, when MLS opened shop.

When we lost to Portland, we had been in existance for 1 season and still used players like Andrea Lombardo to fill spots on the roster. There is almost no way you can compare our first year struggles to this.

We lost to a USL team that, at that point, hadn't lost at home in a year or something, and could easily have competed in MLS. We lost to the U20s last year.

But we have never, as far as I know, lost to a bunch of 16-year-old provincial rep players, which would be our equivalent.

Edit: Oh, and of course, the Red Bulls are shite.

I have played hockey against 16 year olds when I was in my late 20's. Little buggers buzz all over the place and wont let you hit them.
