    Mornin'

    Very busy today

    Johnston: Man with a plan
    by Ryan Johnston

Toronto FC director of soccer Mo Johnston made the only trade he needed to at the 2009 MLS SuperDraft when he swapped his riverboat for a rowboat.

It must have tore the Scotsman up inside to walk to the podium three times in the first round and make three selections; but it was the right thing to do. In his third-year as team architect Johnston seems to have settled down and accepted that building a winner is not a race.

    O'Brian White is coming home.

Toronto FC didn't have to look far to get some much-needed scoring punch Thursday in the MLS Superdraft.
Toronto FC selected Toronto-born striker O'Brian White with the fourth pick overall. White, 23, enjoyed a stellar '07 campaign at the University of Connecticut, scoring an NCAA-high 23 goals to capture the Hermann Trophy as U.S. college soccer's player of the year.

Club selects Toronto high school star in the first round
    TorontoFC.ca

Toronto FC was busy in the first round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft held in St. Louis, MO. Toronto had the 2nd, 4th and 13th selections all in round one. With the 2nd overall selection, Toronto FC chose Wake Forest University midfielder Sam Cronin. Cronin completed all four seasons at Wake Forest and started in every game the Demon Deacons played since he first stepped on campus in 2005 to play for head coach Jay Vidovich.

Draft brings more questions for TFC
    by: Ben Rycroft

It should come as no surprise that when the consensus became that Toronto FC was going to trade one, if not all of its first round draft picks at yesterday's MLS Superdraft, that Director of Soccer Operation Mo Johnston turned around and did the complete opposite.

Toronto FC makes most of MLS first-round draft picks
    Jesse Reynolds, National Post

Toronto FC added more homegrown talent to its roster Thursday, picking O'Brian White fourth overall in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. This development comes a month after the club traded for hometown hero and Canadian international player Dwayne De Rosario.
White, 23, is a native of Jamaica but spent his high school years in Scarborough and has Canadian residency. The University of Connecticut forward had been on the team's radar even before he won the 2007 Hermann Trophy as the NCAA most valuable player. However, there had been speculation that White would opt to play in Europe.

Soccer by Ives is reporting that Chivas are set to lose TWO midefielders.
Klestjan is heading to a tryout with Celtic as we speak, and Mendoza has signed in Mexico with Guadalajara.

I will just link the main page, because it's the first 2 headlines:

Okay, we need to stop posting this sunshine girl so they stop getting hits on that part of the site. This is getting ridiculous. That girl looks like a drug addict working the corners for her next fix. This is just ridiculous. Can we protest it, and please link a new girl? Maybe a months worth of Scarlett Johansson so that I can regain my formerly raging labedo??

Perhaps Fiday will be added to the weekend instead of the week?

So he considers Toronto "home." That's worth something.

At the very least, it will help with his "comfort" in the city and he can concentrate on breaking the starting XI.

White needs to get back fast and start working with the loving hands of Paul Winsper.
I worry sometimes that guys don't rehab properly and think they're OK when they're not. Winsper will surely take care of that.

Am I the first to complain that we have to wait to see how good White is?

    didn't think so.

That's ok. We shouldn't expect to sell our picks for 5 mil every year...

I realize this is none of my/our business, but I hope OBW lives with his family, as opposed to living on his own, when he comes back here.

There will be a lot of pressure on the kid.

Kyle Hall, a forward on the men's soccer team, has been drafted by the Toronto FC of Major League Soccer in the third round of the MLS draft, as the 39th pick.

Hall spoke with The Daily Orange tonight, confirming his selection.

"I found about before one of my classes," Hall said. "I got a call from my agent saying I had been selected in the third round (by Toronto FC). When it happened, I was shocked, surprised, happy. I knew I was up for selection, but I wasn't sure if they would draft me."

Chivas USA's Sacha Kljestan in for Celtic trial

CELTIC have taken Chivas USA's Sacha Kljestan on trial for a week as they step up their bid to crack the American market.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder left the US national training camp in Los Angeles last night, where he was preparing for a friendly against Sweden on January 24, and will train at Lennoxtown under Hoops boss Gordon Strachan until next Friday.
