    Default Ives: Serioux to TFC?

Sources tell SBI that the Hoops are working hard to trade up to the No. 2 slot to grab Maryland central defender and Dallas-area product Omar Gonzalez. FC Dallas currently holds the No. 5 and No. 11 picks and one possibility could see the Hoops packaging defender Adrian Serioux with one of its first-round picks for Toronto FC's No. 2 overall pick.

MoJo would not settle for the 11th pick, I think he would for sure get the 5th or walk away

This would be great news. He's a fantastic defender, and would be a great addition to our team. Between him, DeRo, and a DP striker, I think we're set pretty nicely to make the play-offs in year three.

Mo needs results this year. You can bet he's gonna make some trades. He doesn't have time to wait for more prospects to develop.

When Serioux balances his aggressiveness with a more composed style of play, he is a very talented defender that is very hard to beat. However, when he crosses the line, he struggles and causes havoc for his team. I'm of the opinion that he has improved exponentially in the past couple of years, as he has started to play a more calculated and intelligent style of game. The violent style that he was known for has been relatively absent from his play from what I've heard and seen, so I'd say that Serioux would be a fantastic, domestic addition to our backline.

If MLS actually respects the FIFA dates this would be great. But this could potentially leave TFC thin during the Gold Cup. That is if anyone wants to play for Mitchell...

agreed... I always worry when quality Canadian players enter the TFC mix (or any other man that plays for his national team). The threat of losing a core group of players during international dates is just too great in the world of MLS.

    such a shame...

He's the one who got fined for tackling Beckham after he said the team would be going after him. I like that kind of spunk. Other players who were considered trouble makers have come to TFC and seem to get along fine, so why not?

Seems like we are giving up a lot of young talent lately in order to bring in these older guys. Anyone else concerened about that?

Nah, he'd just constantly be suspended and would just take up a roster spot. And the net is much too large for him to cover with his carcass of a body.

Never mind that he's paid almost twice the TFC salary number!

So we trade Serioux to get Ronnie who we trade for a first rounder, and now we're going to trade a draft for a guy we had in the first place... Any of this making sense to anyone?

    sure....it makes total sense.

At the time of the Expansion Draft, Mo felt he needed a creative wing player and O'Brien wanted out Dallas. it was a good fit and Serioux was a useful piece to complete that puzzle.

There was all kinds of speculation that Mo didn't like Serioux from their days at NYRB but anyone who has watched Adrien knows he's evolved into a very solid MLS player (and he played pretty well for Canada in the WCQ). My guess is that Mo and JC would rather not add more unproven college players who won't help TFC win anytime soon, so instead they are targetting an experienced Canadian coming off one of his better seasons to help shore up our generally poor D.

Just because a manager trades a player away doesn't mean he thinks the player is useless...the player just might not fit at that moment.

at the time, getting O'Brien for Serioux was awesome. I'd make that trade every time.
O'Brien was our best player in most games in 2007 and performed very well for San Jose last season.

people have to look at trades in context, at the time they happened.

Many people forget that when Ronnie was healthy, this team was getting results. After he went down to injury the team never recovered. O'Brien had nobody to work with while he was here. Just imagine if he was still with the club last season with Guevara and Ricketts...
