By the way, I always thought that if we were going to get DeRo, we'd have to send Guevara the other direction. I'm amazed that we didn't.

That's the thing that really makes this all the sweeter for us.

We really didn't give up anything huge to make this happen!

And I have a feeling that Trader MoJo probably already has a top CB from outside MLS lined up to come to the club in January, which will make swapping JJ for De Ro look like the biggest steal in history. MoJo always seesm to have an overall plan going on, rather than just one off trades.

I also think we'll see Marshall go to Seattle for their first overall draft pick to free up cap space for the new CB, and hopefully see a DP poacher come in. We'll then have picks 1, 2 and 4 for young/GA talent and pick 13 for OBW, who will play in 2010 once DD has retired at the end of 2009. At that point, Mo will look like an absolute genius.

    Sorry, is this for real?

Based on what we just saw in the pricing for DeRo, why on earth would we expect to receive a first overall draft pick for a 34 year old journeyman defender?

We'll get an allocation, and that's it.

This is Toronto ensco, it's in our nature to overvalue our players. When we don't get a 1st round draft pick for Marshall ppl on this board are going to start the fire Mo threads again. A Journeyman defender is the equivalent to an All star defender in Toronto fans eyes.

You know there's no finite value on this stuff - it all depends what people are willing to give up for what they want. Or what they can afford with the cap.

Still, might as well dream big.

Any player's value is supply and demand, just like anything else. If Marshall is worth a lot to Seattle's, Mo will soak them.

    from Robbo's column:

I also have to welcome our new signing Dwayne de Rosario, a Canadian boy, former mvp league player and all-star team player for a number of years too.

It is a great coup for Mo Johnstone to manage to get him, and I know that a lot of work went into this from him.

    Mo-haters can take a breather.
