    Default TFC Backline and Keeper

The backline and keeper have been playing very well as a unit of late....so much so I would say that our defensive issues are in the past...Velez and Marshall have been playing well, and Sutton...well he is Greg Sutton and has been playing great all season.

    discuss...

I was a big critic of Valez. But man has he brought it on lately. He has brought it on lately an dhis game is improving game by game. he reallly is starting to look confident back there.
Sutton is in the top 3 goaltenders in the league and i think deserves a spot on the allstar team.

Marshall hasn't been showing his age. He still has some speed and alot of soccer smarts. he's doing agtreat job.

All in all our defence is very respecatbale and our goaltending is top notch

We are actually playing very disciplined in the back really eliminating chances, allowing long shots and taking away angles. Are back line is just as responsible for our strong start as our midfield is.

It helps having 5 in the middle. The defenders are put in less tough spots that could make them look bad.

One thing I really notice is how many "breaks" we are getting (ie Fred heading a free header straight at Sutton)

It tells me that we are holding our shape incredibly well

^^^Yes! I always knew I recognized Sutton from somewhere besides the soccer field. Now if only the entire team can be exposed to safe but massive doses of cosmic rays...

Both have been great. Velez has been the bomb. Not only defending but how many times has he started an attack with a brilliant feed from the back?

I can't believe Wynne isn't mentioned here. Man, he jst turned heads when he got the turbo running. He just needs to learn how to score or cross.

-Reminds me of a Family Guy episode, where Mayor West, thinking he would gain super powers, exposes him self to radioactive material... only to end up with cancer.

We need a fantastic four motif...

Dichio as The Thing, Sutton as Mr. Fantastic, Wynne as the Human Torch.

Only question, who'd be Susan Storm?

I've always felt that our defensive woes last season were more because of our poor midfield and their inability to maintain possession and control the game. I think our newly found defensive prowess is owed just as much to our greatly improved midfield.

Love it. Velez has been great the last few. Really wants to be there too it seems.
and Sutton? Well there's only one Greg Sutton!

I think we really have lot's of depth at the back 4 and goalie.
We could also be successful with reserves at forward.
Mid-Field is where we will be a very weaker team if more than one of the five is out!

Our back line is probably the deepest. Assuming James and Tebily are decent. Edwards backs up Sutton.

Our MF isn't bad. The quality definitely drops off a bit, but Smith has been very good. Duni is solid. Pat hasn't had a chance to show is stuff, but he sounded promising.

Our forwards are extremely shallow. Dichio is our only good guy, and his skill set isn't the best for our MF's skill set. After that we have Cunny who has proved weak all around. Lombardo, who doesn't even make the 16 anymore. and Smith, who has proven effective at MF, and may not show the same success up front.
