Default Brennan, Sutton get Canadian callups

Good for them but this sucks. I'd rather see Canada lose a friendly the TFC lose to the Galaxy. (Not suggesting that these will be the outcome just because Sutton and Brennan are gone.)

We might be strong enough at the back to not miss them too much...at least I hope this is the case.

Edwards is going to get a workout against that Galaxy attack.

We will seriously miss Sutton. Remember last game against LA? he literally robbed Donovan on numerous occasions.

Yeah, that's why I split the two up.

Sutton is a wall out there.

Now I do see 4 goalies on the roster. Do teams usually call up this many goalies for a friendly match?

Lars Hirschfeld G Edmonton, AB ROM / CFR Cluj
Pat Onstad G Vancouver, BC USA / Houston Dynamo
Greg Sutton G Hamilton, ON CAN / Toronto FC

Brennan is a left back, Duni is a natural LB so that seems the logical replacement.

This is almost a bit of a blessing, because with players on international duty, it will give other players an opportnity to come in. Carver has repeated that he does not favor the rotation of players, so this is a nice way of forcing his hand a tad.

It does seem like a bit of overkill...the US called up 3 or 4 for their trip to England I think. On form I would think Sutton would start so even if they only called up one I think we'd be without him against LA.

CBC is jumping the gun with that headline. I still think that Sutton and Brennan could very likely be left with Toronto for the Brazil game and then brought in for a look against Panama. Especially Sutton with the 4 keepers. I still suspect Mitchell will start Hirschfeld against Brazil and if he does then there's no point in Sutton missing the Galaxy game to warm the bench in Seattle

Although toronto will be missing Brennan and Sutton, that won't be an issue as LA will be missing Donovan and Beckam

I would put pounds to dollars we see Dunivent, esp with him being subbed in last game.

There was a new kid playing left back in the second half of the reserves game this morning. He's no Jimmy Brennan but he looked very good. With James, Tebily and now this kid Elkinson we have some defensive depth. I'm not worried about L.A. with no Soccer Spice.

I don't see Sutton playing ahead of Lars or Onstad but I hope DM has Lars as our #1 and that Lars play at least 45 against Brasil and all of the Panama match. Gives the players a good taste of how the back will be organized

I'm guessing Sutton's included for the camp portion

As for Brennan I dunno why he's even getting the call. He's a good player but his best games for Canada are in his past

fwiw, with the way he's been playing so far this season if the USA is including Edu, they are in trouble
    Sophomore jinx????

So will Jim and Sutton not be in Montreal as from my understanding Canada will be holding its training camp?
