Default WTF CBC......turning into MLS Cup Open Thread

Nigel and Jason in the studio calling the MLS Cup Final.

They couldn't even put in the money for ONE flight to Los Angeles?

And I notice they're calling Impact home games in Toronto too.

What is going on? Are they banned from going outside Toronto unless it's Hockey Night in Canada? I love the CBC but they are cheap, if it's not in Toronto then we call it from a monitor even if the event is in Windsor.

Oh well.....go Red Bulls, they win 2-0 in an upset.

Nothing can make me go to ABC's broadcast, I'm not that stupid. Nigel Reed FTW.

    Red Bulls are SHITE!

game is tied 1-1, nothing solved in ET, penalty shootout results in a hour special of the worst display of footy you ever seen and both clubs forfeit leaving no name on the 08 MLS cup.

Who cares. It's not an TFC match.
If it was a TFC match then I'd def be pissed.
Even if they weren't broadcasting I wouldn;t be heartbroken.
In any case they had Peacock down there so it's not a total loss...

No Canadian anthem played in a league that sees it’s largest revenue generator north of the border. Don, you put the Garber in garbage.

Were crew fans chanting “Ricky Bobby” towards their own goalie on a goal kick? LOL That shits funny! Although he looks more like that Jason Timberland character on TV.

Is the Canadian anthem played at the World Series when the Jays aren't playing????

And LA are the largest revenue generators in the league - not TFC

So MLS should follow suit and not do anything MLB, NBA, NFL doesn’t do? That’s pish.

LA fans generate more in revenue than TFC fans do? I’d like to see the real numbers on that one!

I think LA does, but its because they have the "WE LOVE BECKS" fans who know otherwise nothing about footy and they have a bigger stadium to hold more of these "fans". On the basis of REAL fans though.... I think Toronto takes the cake...

anyone else think its a little embarrassing to see all those empty black seats in the stands? MLS could have at least spent the EA effort and put up 2-d crowds in the stands, lol, :P

"The Toronto FC, which commissioner Garber holds up as the blueprint for the coming expansion teams, is worth $44 million, up four-fold in just three years. The team turned a profit of $2.1 million in its inaugural season last year, when it sold every ticket at 20,500-seat BMO Field.
A cosmopolitan city with a passionate soccer fan base translated into a sea of supporters donning the red and white team colors at home games. Toronto FC spectators topped the league in spending, averaging $15 a game on food, beverages and souvenirs at concession stands. Toronto also rakes in $4 million in local television and sponsorship revenue."

Take it for what its worth

I wonder why they would pay to send Mitch Peacock to LA to interview games, and as well seemingly with a cameraman and a cameraman (unless they got a spare camera from ABC to record the bits with Peacock) why would they not just send down DeVos and Reed with them as well? Or is The HDC not equipped with more than one press box?

We copied ourselves so careful where you point the finger. All the more reason to develop some original stuff that can't be modified. I guess the question becomes, "did we beat them to the chant and are we going to ditch it now that someone else has banged one out over it"
