    Canadians crap out
Disastrous World Cup qualifying campaign comes to a fitting close with loss to Jamaica

Canada's men's soccer team closed its unsuccessful bid for a spot in the 2010 World Cup with a 3-0 loss to Jamaica last night.
The loss ended a disappointing qualifying run for Canada, which failed to win a game during the third round of qualifying after powering past St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the second round.
``We are disappointed," said Canadian head coach Dale Mitchell. ``We started off with the two home games. You start with the first two games at home and you have some pressure."

    Remaining CONCACAF berths filled

MEXICO CITY -- Honduras, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago claimed the last three berths on Wednesday for next year's final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.

Costa Rica, El Salvador and the United States had already qualified for the finals for teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Honduras, undefeated against Mexico at home since 1998, won 1-0 on an own-goal which advanced both teams from Group 2.

    Default Hunter Freeman

Hunter Freeman has truly been a mobile wingback in 2008. He began the year in New York, took a brief Toronto detour, and now after spending a few weeks with new employers IK Start in Norway, is set to head back to the States for the offseason.

Freeman gone? He was looking good. Oh well, DP's are coming...

    Canada.
Play some kids. Lose 3-0. Say you're disapointed. Don't play it on TV.

The best year for this country's soccer is almost done. Can a step up be salvaged by waving goodbye to Dale? Thanks for the goals but the kids don't trust you.

Possible big news from the MLS FO:

Earlier this year, Arsenal welcomed Colorado Rapids owner Stan Kroenke to the board, and the club also appear to be poaching their new chief executive from the MLS.
Deputy Commissioner Ivan Gazidis joined the American league in 1994, two years before anyone had ever kicked a soccerball, and has been instrumental in developing the game in the big country.
According to the Daily Mail, the South African-born lawyer - a known supporter of Game 39 - could be north London-bound:
Gazidis, an Oxford University football Blue, has the credentials for the Arsenal role, having joined the MLS in 1994 as part of their founding management team. Now he oversees all aspects of the competition, as well as being involved in running football organisation CONCACAF.
Arsenal will have a problem attracting Gazidis, whose proposed move to the Premier League with Manchester City fell through when he was reticent to relocate to England.

Gazidis is deputy commishioner and has been expected to take over when Garber retires/leaves.

How pathetic is it that a country like Trinidad and Tobago can make advancements towards the World Cup and Canada can't?

    Firing Dale Mitchell isn't enough, people. \/ \/ \/

We knew when he came over that he had signed a contract with IK starting January 1st 2009. This is no surprise.
