As the last minutes ticked away in Toronto FC's 1-0 victory last night, goal scorer and agitator-in-chief Danny Dichio engaged in some friendly shoving with reedy DC United defender Devon McTavish.
McTavish, the man who gifted Dichio the game's only goal, had apparently had enough of the Toronto forward's pointy elbows and hipchecks. He wheeled on Dichio, screaming and attempting to knock the big man back.

TORONTO — Those were Danny Dichio conditions last night — wet and chilly, a reminder to him of jolly old England.
And in kind of a scuffling 1-0 victory over D.C. United, Dichio was Toronto FC's man for all seasons, the man who did it at both ends of the pitch.
Dichio, a physical presence all night long as Toronto's target man up front, not only scored what proved to be the winning goal in the seventh minute, he also preserved the three points with a clearance of a rebound in the 64th minute.
He was also in the middle of a bit of melee near the D.C. net late in the game. There was no harm, no foul and no card.

Dichio lifts Toronto FC over D.C. United
It's a classic case of trading places, with one team coming of age and the other losing its way. Danny Dichio scored the lone goal and goalkeeper Greg Sutton recorded his fourth shutout of the season in Toronto's FC's 1-0 victory over D.C. United on a cool Wednesday night before 19,791 fans at BMO Field.
Far from pretty, Toronto's play was, nevertheless, effective.
"I have to be honest and say we won tonight in a scruffy way. We weren't at our best … but that's a good sign because when a team isn't playing well and still wins games, that’s a sign of a good team," Toronto coach John Carver said.

Toronto FC remain undefeated

TORONTO - Danny Dichio scored the game's lone goal and Toronto FC extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-0 win over D.C. United in Major League Soccer action Wednesday.
Dichio scored in the seventh minute to open the home-and-home series as Toronto (4-2-2) avenged a 4-1 loss to D.C. (2-7-0) in United's home opener on April 5. Since then, Toronto hasn't lost a game.
Dichio, bothered by a groin injury recently, capitalized after D.C. defender Devon McTavish failed to get much of his foot on a poor back pass. With United goalie Zach Wells out of position and sprawled on the ground, Dichio tipped it home while being hauled down by McTavish for his second goal of the year, delighting a crowd of 19,791 on a damp, crisp evening.

TORONTO -- Toronto FC ended a five-game homestand with a 1-0 victory over D.C. United last night in wet conditions at BMO Field - and gained some revenge for an early-season drubbing.
It was the third victory (to go with two draws) for Toronto in its lengthy stretch on FieldTurf that began on April 19 with a victory over Real Salt Lake. Announced attendance was 19,791.
Danny Dichio, who was a physical presence up front, took advantage of a defensive lapse to score early for Toronto.

Dichio extends streak to six

Unbeaten in six.
A year ago such a notion would result in ridicule but after Wednesday's 1-0 win over D.C. United it is Toronto FC who are laughing it up.
"The game in LA set us up nicely for the run of five games at home," Toronto FC coach John Carver said after the match. "I was concerned about having five home games because it is very difficult to keep yourself going for the five. But fair credit to the lads and if someone (would have said TFC would take 11 of a possible 15 points), I would have chopped their hand off and took it right there."
