TFC coach puts job on the line
    By DEAN MCNULTY, SUN MEDIA

Toronto FC coach John Carver put his future with the Major League Soccer team on the line yesterday, challenging his players to do the same over the next five matches.
In a two-hour training session -- the most strenuous seen all season at BMO Field -- Carver ran the squad hard in drill after drill. He said the 2-0 loss to Kansas City Wizards this past Saturday was a low point for a team that has just one win in the past 12 league games.
What disappointed him most, he said, was that a win against the Wizards would have given TFC a big boost toward earning a playoff spot.
"So much was at stake and so little was given," Carver said of his team's effort in K.C.

Injury sidelines Toronto FC's Carlos Ruiz

Toronto FC striker Carlos Ruiz missed training Tuesday because of a nagging knee injury and is expected to have an MRI to discover the extent of the problem.
Ruiz, 29, played in Toronto's 2-0 loss to the Wizards in Kansas City last weekend, but coach John Carver thinks the Guatemalan might not be available for Saturday's home against the Houston Dynamo (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 p.m. ET).
"I don't think Carlos will be right. I've only just found out that he had a slight niggle before the game last weekend. He has been trying to play even though his knee is not right," Carver told Toronto FC's official website.

Toronto FC coach still seething with Houston on horizon
    Morgan Campbell

After a listless 2-0 loss to Kansas City on Saturday, Toronto FC head coach John Carver gave his team Monday off. He did it partly to help his players rest for this week’s training, but he also wanted to keep his anger at Saturday’s poor play in check.
After Tuesday’s practice, Carver admitted he was still seething from the weekend’s loss, and bringing the team together so quickly afterward might have ignited a few shouting matches.
So after taking an extra day to regroup, Carver greeted his team with as long and intense a practice as they’d had in months.

Ruiz, as a rental player, is not willing to play at BMO. Period.

I'd even be happy if they just released him.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Hold on. Do we not have medicals in this league? Ruiz told LA and Mo just picked him up. Sounds like a waste to me.

Yeah, no kidding. You have medicals in the worst of leagues around the world, and yet we just pick up a guy not knowing his condition or history? I mean, WTF is that about?

    George is getting upset!

They should trade him for that veteran striker in Dallas that's been scoring lately, i think his name is Cunningham.
