    Default RSL STADIUM! Beauty!

Is set to open October 9th!!....and she's a beauty!!

Here is a new comericial regarding the stadium!
    http://www.mls-rumors.net/2008/09/vi...ommercial.html

and some updated pics at the webpage!! and the grass looks purdy....the corners are cased in.. they have seats on each end......
    http://www.rslstadium.com/index2.html

It'll defintly take over as the #1 pitch in MLS!!.......but i do think that will change once..Redbulls get theres!

If MLSE could do it all over...do you think BMO would look like it does today!?

its a plain, simple, small stadium in my opinion. and i would find it hard to imagine those fans filling it up. if they do, than this project would be successful. Is this even close to 'downtown' ??? or is it in the burbs somewhere...

    Nice roof.

Too bad the CSA cut the roof out of our stadium...

Looks pretty nice, but people will now notice how similar it is to the rest of the designs and that the renderings ALWAYS look better than the finished product.

As an aside, a complete lower bowl makes ANY stadium look better.

I'm not across my stats lately, but they averaged about 20k a game...the optics don't look that way because they play in such a large stadium and the fans are scattered

It does look good. Hope the fans don't get confused when they see a pitch without lines every five yards.

They drew 25,000 for Beckham, but they usually get around 12,000, give or take. The new stadium seats 20,000, so we'll see the true effect on attendance next year. (I expect they can fill the place for the last two games, between the curious and giveaways.)

I can't imagine they'l have trouble filling it. Isn't a family pack of tickets in Salt Lake something like 20 seats?

    The commercial was nice.
I love the closeups of the real grass.

All these Rosetti designs look the same, except for Red Bull Park... Why is everybody using them, and why don't they demand a bit of variety?? This one has a slightly different roof, that's really the only difference.

I rather like BMO's design to be honest, we just need a proper north stand and a roof overhead and we're set. And getting a sort of structure around the outside would be nice... You can see underneath the stands, not cool. I'd be happy if BMO Field ended up looking like this (except red and with fans...)

WOW! that's all I have to say. This should be a serious message to TFC/MLSE that a team in Salt Lake that;s losing money everyday, makes us look bush league.

We deserve at least this much class.

Why even bother putting that roof on if they're just going to do it half assed. A cloth roof a mile above the stands sticking up in the air that doesn't provide shelter or hold in the noise..... so what's the point?

I can't wait for the holy grail that is Red Bull Arena to come in and set a new standard of expectations. St. Louis appears to be on the ball as well. Hopefully this will start a new trend in stadium design for the league.

What about TFC...will we sit and watch the League bloom with all these new stadiums.....and be happy with what we have?

Why? Asthetics. Typically unless the owner/end user specifies something before hand about particular designs and features, the Architect/Engineering firms will go with a) what works best and/or b) what looks best (in their eyes obviously).

I agree that RB stadium looks like it should be good. A proper 'arena' style stadium. Problem is that Architectural firm seems to have good standing with the MLS and therefore gets awarded jobs because they probably were the lowest bidder at the time, and now the MLS knows they can produce stadiums that work for their needs.

In one of the construction pictures, they called the south end the stage, but the seating map shows seats; I stand corrected.

Summer in Salt Lake is hot and dry; the roof (they call it a canopy) is to provide some shade (as per their relocaion guide http://www.rslstadium.com/seats/relocationguide.pdf)

A proper old school roof would serve the same purpose, but I guess that would cost a lot more... Damn MLS and its budgets.

In a conversation with mlsintoronto one time...i asked him about a possible roof at bmo...i remember him saying..if such a thing was to happen...it would be a canopy style roof if anything

Lyon in france has one.....but its lay out is much nicer...as it acually covers the south and north end stands

The irony of this is that RSL's great record this year is largely due to practising everyday on that piece of shit cement astroturf pitch they're on right now, then being just about unbeatable on it. I'll be surprised if they perform as well on natural grass.
