    Post Today’s News, Tuesday , Sept.02

    Good Morning

For now no TFC News, wonder why ?

    Team Canada arrives in Montreal
Coach Dale Mitchell and his troops have arrived in Montréal in anticipation of Saturday's match against Honduras. The team had its first training session this morning with the first group of players that arrived over the weekend.

"We had nine players (this morning) and we will get a good portion of guys throughout the rest of the day," Mitchell said after the team's two-hour practice at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard. "We should be very close to full strength tomorrow and should have everyone by Wednesday."

Canada is playing six matches against three teams in Stage III of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Qualifiers.

"We will just work everyday and make sure that by the time Saturday comes around, everybody will focused on the match here in Montréal," Mitchell said.

Don't know what is more infuriating

    By GARETH WHEELER

    Flip a coin.

What is the more pertinent issue to address, the gaping holes in Toronto FC's lineup or the holes in the governing of Major League Soccer?
Both are equally disturbing, so let's do the simple thing by looking back before we look forward.
Saturday night's heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Chivas USA out in California made a couple things clear -- TFC needs a facelift in terms of its defensive personnel and lacks a midfield presence.
Off his TFC debut, it could hardly be determined if the Guatemalan striker Carlos Ruiz will have any kind of impact. He wasn't given any kind of service and, thus, was nonexistent. It's hard to blame the strikers when the team playing behind them performs so porously.

    FUTILE DISPLAY

Watching this futile display, you wanted to buy goalkeeper Greg Sutton a beer. Sutton was pummelled by open shots throughout the match. He eventually weakened to the onslaught in injury time when Chivas produced the final score line after Jim Brennan had given TFC a 1-0 lead.

So we need to have 32+ points for post season, we COULD have been at 29, and 1 game back.

Is ALL hope dashed? Mathematically speaking?

I am pretty sure the consensus around here is that year 2 will end nominally better than year 1.

The Montreal Impact are on the verge of punching their ticket for the inaugural CONCACAF Champions League.
All they need to do is avoid defeat against Nicaraguan champions Real Esteli FC Tuesday night in the second game of their preliminary round playoff.
Montreal earned a 1-0 win at home last week, which means the Canadian team only needs a draw Tuesday night to advance to the group stage of the CONCACAF tournament.

Well, we need to win a few games, but it also depends on NYRB (who are shite). They play Chigaco, Columbus and RSL twice each - all currently playoff teams - and Colorado and us once.

    So, it's still possible.....

World Cup qualifier moved due to Gustav

The World Cup qualifying match between Jamaica and Mexico scheduled for Saturday has been moved because of damage caused in the Caribbean by Hurricane Gustav, FIFA said Tuesday.
The two countries will play at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City instead of the Jamaican capital of Kingston.
The return match scheduled for Oct. 11 in Mexico City will now be played at Jamaica's National Stadium.
Jamaica and Mexico are drawn with Canada and Honduras in Group 2 of the third stage of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The winner and runner-up in each group will go forward to the fourth stage.

Now Mexico is playing last two games as a visitor.
    Oct.11.Jamaica and Oct.15 Edmonton Canada.
