Not just injuries but yellow card suspensions, red card suspensions, baby absences and international duty.

Herdman also saying those 11 with contracts ending are on the clock - as much as indicates the roster is going to be turned over significantly at the end of the season.

Think that sort of planning begins with roster construction. We all sort of know the problems here.

I also wonder how much our travel and cold weather play into the injuries. Although, you wouldn’t think either of those other 2 teams referenced experience anything different.

Herdman in his presser indicated people brought in for a less aggressive style under BB who were asked to play different positions were pushing physical boundaries that might take them until next year to adjust to.

I'm guessing he's just aging out of the team as a prospect at 23 and they'd rather give minutes to guys like Stefanovic and Ythallo. With the transfer window opening maybe he has a deal in place for CPL or USL for some first team minutes.

Guess we are gonna continue to kick that DP number 9 idea down the road.

Did I understand correctly that, after missing the sitter and being subbed off, he took too long to come off, so we played with 10 men for several crucial minutes?

Yes...he has to be off in 15 seconds. As he didn't, the rule is 1 minute minimum and then the next regular stoppage afterwards - which was close to 2 minutes in length.

I am told by people at the highest level at the club that this is a "ridiculous and stupid rumour with absolutely no substance whatsoever."

They have yet to lie to me in several years' worth of convos, so I'd put that one to bed right now.

Nope. But I didn't ask about that part. Have to take info I can get, and I know that if they're actively talking to him they won't tell me, or if someone does, it won't be until it's locked up.

I don't think we'd rely on him but he does make us better. Richie can play the left side effectively, Fede the right.

What it does do is limit our options with respect to where to use Fede who, as hardworking as he has been this year, is still better going forward than back.

Generally, though, you're right, the roster is quite limited in both depth and quality right now. With even three or four more competitive subs we'd probably have closed out at least one or two of these losses.

I know it's a horse that has been beaten to death and back but...Shaff came on last night in a competitive game against the reigning South American and World champions and immediately looked lively, caused problems and nearly won a penalty.

To give a player like him, with his cap hit up in a salary cap league... absolutely criminal. It will never not sting.

But we have $15M/yr DP superstar, playing in his spot, that a street was closed down to welcome here tearing the league apart and leading us to greatness.

    Where would Shaff fit in?

Herdman would have had to slot him on the right, as a forward, of course. In front of Bernardeschi, creating space and opportunities. With Laryea supporting Insigne on the opposite flank. And Osorio now relegated to the bench.

Yeah, you're absolutely right, that's a painful one. Even if he does only have 1 goal and 2 assists this season.
He would have likely slotted in for most if not all 31 games Insigne has missed out of a possible 80 since he's been here.
