John Kennedy would be perfect. As for Larin, he would absolutely dominate in mls and would be an amazing DP.... not sure why he would come home at this time though.

opens 600K + in salary this season.

almost definitely have the ability to buy down oso and add a 3rd DP now.

    intl spot open too

Yeah, as long as we didn't eat much salary, this is a good move.

This definitely doesn't feel like a move that happens in isolation. Almost a DP's worth of cap space. We could still buy down Oso, get a YDP, and if we shift another piece (possibly buy out Rosted) still have room to add a U22 now or in the summer.

the rules are changing to allow senior and young DPs to be decoupled.

i think they don't take chances if they sign a striker and it'll be a senior DP.

Unless they can somehow ship out Cash or Ayo, they'll have to wait until summer for when the new rules come into effect to sign a senior DP striker.

This opens up our options dramatically - we can afford to do a big ol' transfer fee if necessary. Not to say that TFC Execs have the appetite to do so, but if we're looking at, say, a Moise Kean...

I know this is the right move getting rid of Blessing but man looking back at what we gave up for MAK makes me shake my head. This is probably the crown jewel of Bob Bradley’s ineptitude.

2022: Ralph Priso + $1.025 million in General Allocation Money + 2023 international roster spot + TFC's 2023 first-round SuperDraft pick for MAK
    2023: MAK for Blessing
2024: Blessing for $60k in GAM

I get it that its to get some cap space, but the Blessing trade reminds me of a Mo Johnston trade.

    Oh well

If we can keep what we are doing up and capture the fans attention again, I think by summer MLSE will have noticed and allow Hernandez and Herdman to splash a nice chunk of change on a transfer fee.

I love the idea of us getting a DP but please, please, someone - anyone - make the decision other than Bill Manning. We need a striker who can complement this team, not fan service. A winning team will bring the fans in. The right striker could be the most important signing we make in years

I could see the PR side of the FO (aka Manning) already thinking: Early season Herdman magic + Shiny New Summer DP Striker + Nations League = We'll be just like Miami

honestly if this team has the spine they think they do, we could make waves with a DP striker

Have to be honest, I just want a good young DP striker and #manningfired, is that asking too much? Among everything else, wooden spoons, toxic dressing rooms, highest payroll, revolving management, DP merry go round, we don't talk about our three greatest players ever, have all been ostracized directly or indirectly by Manning (buck stops there) - Gio, Jozy and Michael.

    ----------

As for Miami, they are one Messi injury from disaster.

Thats why the league had to make the extra slot available to provide summer depth, another young Argentinian coming. Miami have a tough call though in the interim to go for the Champions League win or not.

you just need to be relatively well organized and solid in this league with DPs that can turn a game.

i believe a cucho-type forward would make this team very difficult to contend with (then lots more flexibility in the next offseason for further additions).

shopping list for me is Striker DP and a Flores sub/heir (U22). Anything else is gravy

No Larin please, we need players that are hungry. The energy so far in 2024 is palpable and having the wrong striker come in who is supposed to be the final puzzle piece and instead doesn't lead by example after having a big price tag attached to him is the last thing this team needs. Let's see if Kerr can do some damage with Herdman in charge and then re-evaluate

According to Transfermarkt, Blessing played 152 minutes with us.

i.e. Less then 2 games worth

I know his salary was the price to move MAK on but yeesh....

Yeah I think you wait until the summer window to make a call. See if Kerr or Prince come good first. Plus, more available targets then.

CP24 just reported that Johnson and Laryea are out for 2-3 months with hamstring strains. Is that legit?

Unlikely. John Molinaro is saying Laryea is three more weeks and Johnson is out two more.

I should note that it's pretty standard practise to save signing announcements for Friday, get good spirit going into the weekend. So if they've already got someone, it could come out tomorrow.
