Don't have high hopes for this year, but I am so happy to have TFC and MLS back on the weekends.

I predict a draw away to start the season that we'll celebrate like a playoff spot.

    I would celebrate that.

Away to Cincinnati is tough even for good teams

Gonna say a 3-2 loss, but we will all be pumped because we scored 2 goals.

The eye test here is their energy level and fight, and whether it sticks around. Beating Cincinnati at home is not probable.

Though they do have some new pieces, so maybe they won't be quite as crisp.

Here is a little light readying for ahead of the season opener on some of the ego that could very well be influencing the MLSE Board Room these days.

Getting a result would be a miracle. Not worth seriously thinking about.

I think the better question is, what will Herdman try to do here. Park the bus? Play veterans so he can figure out who is a buyout candidate? Play kids? Build an idea around formation?

He told Molinaro in one of his pieces that they're implementing a multi-formation system, like the nats. They'll start 343 but can move to 422 or 532.

Cinci has a mid week Concacaf fixture away with a Jamaican club. Might be in our favour….

One thing I vividly remember about Herdman's first games with Canada… he debuted Jonathan David in his first games as coach, and it was more or less simultaneous to David's debut at Gent. David was 18 and absolutely nobody had him in any CMNT depth chart or even knew who the hell he was.

Don't be surprised if Herdman pulls a kid we barely have heard of into the XI early.

Our chances to score have gone up. Cincinnati is without Matt Miazga due to suspension.

Weather is not supposed to be too bad at 17 degrees C they say but its a ways out yet.

A nice stadium to be in - didn't you go there before? Interesting beer & food things too - beer in a boot and those weird fries.

And Borreal as well, as he's about to transfer to Brazil. He was huge from wide from them last year.

And Vazquez, who transferred to Mexico and was replaced with Corey Baird, who is not as good a player but still pretty decent.

Yeah I was there last year too. I have a plant in Ohio and PA so I plan the plants visits when TFC plays in Cincy, DC and Columbus.

Cincy is a great stadium. Pretty lively too.

Last year I was 1st row middle for like $40 or something like that. Little higher this year since it’s the opener but the games are crazy cheap in the US

Cincy looking very poor tonight against Cavalier of Jamaica. Disjointed, leggy.

Had a look at the basics stats after the match and it looks like Cincy found their legs. 0-2, 28 shots to 6, 680 completed passes to 203, 90% to 58% passing accuracy.

Not really. They scored one right before the half and one late but the team they were playing was utter shit, and still gave them some scares.

The 680 passes is telling. The Jamaicans pressed high, then sat in a low block and were an almost amateur level side, and Cincy had a hell of a time breaking them down.

They basically played NYRB gegenpress ball, which is why their passing completion was so low; all long balls to two fast players to try and create breakaways.

Cavalier also managed a couple of genuine chances and if not for a good save or two it would've been 1-1 going late.

    Roster points from Herdmans presser

Insigne unlikely 90 minutes any time this season - focus is on home games & avoiding turf - had reaction to training turf but might play in this one because next week is @ NER

Spicer not with team this weekend because needs more reps recovering- with TFCII

Richie may start but depends on fitness levels

If we win this game I’m buying the new white kit. Just putting that into the world.

Starting to feel a little more optimistic on this - if we're setting the tone right, I think we'll play to a tough win.
