I am really surprised how sharp we are looking.

He's basically only playing as a pivot, keeping his runs minimal. I suspect you're right.

Bad luck with Owusu being tripped right at the bottom corner of the goal, or we'd be up 1-0.

I thought we played really well. It's a good system, effectively playing a man-to-man as soon as they break the first line, and triggering presses whenever Cincinnati tries to build through their wide defender.

Hmm....maybe Berna but I saw Insinge coming back all the time - e.g. he cleaned up from Coello's good defensive move and passed it back to SJ.

Great half! Not perfect by any stretch, but they looked confident getting forward and calm when defending.

Now comes the part we struggled with so badly last year. How many times did we say "good first half!" last year only to concede early in the second 45 and just completely give up?

Chances are we'll lose this game, sure, and we're showing a lack of quality at times with individual mistakes. But we expected that.

That is *exactly* what I wanted to see. that's a team with a game plan, a logical game plan, and one every player is bought into and committed too. That is such a breath of fresh air. Are we world beaters? No, but that's the most enjoyable half of football I've had watching us in years. If we keep this up and don't drop our heads we'll surprise people. If we can add, or find within our team, a top striker we could really surprise people.

I'm still expecting us to lose more than we win but at the very least we're fun to watch again. That was great. Really good job from Herdman to produce a half like that with what he inherited

I also love Flores, we've been missing a player like that for years.

Man these announcers are insufferable. They do not stop talking, ever. Just STFU occasionally, please?! Let the game develop? Less is more.

Is there any setting in Apple / MLS Season Pass where we can hear the stadium sound but not the hyperactive announcers?

They look improved under herdman but it’s only been 45 mins. The bar was set very low but I am going to remain positive.

No chance for stadium only audio but we can go to the Spanish speaking who talk even more....

yeah I am not 100% on this. It is hard to tell from the TV feed, you need to be there.

Berna and Laryea doing what Tajon does in some CMNT formations, kind of a fullback/libero thing

I think Lorenzo is lying deep to protect him from running too much, and Cinci started running right at him.

    I do have a complaint.

These uniforms remain hideous. How were they not fired into the sun in the off season?

The improvements are evident, but Berna at wingback is not a long-term solution. One DP lacks a position and the other lacks an able body. It will limit this team's ceiling. But the floor has certainly been raised.

I'm not sold on Coello or Pettrata either.

    We really need a striker.

Not allowed. Deal with Adidas says we have to use it for two seasons.

They're well aware most people want it gone.

Hope we wear the whites more this year. These are the worst we’ve ever had.

They would be a perfect 3rd jersey, but yeah, shouldn't be the main one.

Going to go a bit against the grain here. Flores has been great hustling and pressing, but he's been pretty terrible on the ball and his confidence looks shot, he's hesitating and reluctant to take even easy passes. Hope Herdman can calm him down at half time. Love him off the ball but he cannot perform like that on the ball.

    I'll run and hide now.

^I think it's a new team problem. Flores doesn’t know where to one touch the ball yet.

Berna would be so much more dangerous if he could lay the ball off instead of running into cul de sacs all the time.

Is last year's third jersey an option this year?

I'd prefer that to either of these.

Can we play a decent game for 90?
